Holy Relic of Jesus’ crib to be returned to Bethlehem
After spending more than 1,000 years in Rome, a wooden fragment worshipped by Catholics as part of the crib in which Jesus was born will be welcomed back to the Holy Land on Friday.
The fragment, part of a relic stored in the Italian capital’s Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, was described by the Custody of the Holy Land, run by Franciscan friars, as a “gift” from Pope Francis.
“It has contributed for centuries to marking the religiousness of the faithful in Rome and from elsewhere,” the custodians wrote, saying that large numbers of pilgrims from around the world went there to worship it.

Bolivia to restore relations with Israel after a decade
Bolivia’s interim government wants to reinstate diplomatic relations with Israel after they were cut off around ten years ago.
A normal relationship could have positive effects for both countries, said Bolivia’s interim foreign minister Karen Longaric in comments carried by local newspaper La Razon on Thursday.
In 2009, then-president Evo Morales broke off ties to Israel due to the country’s military action in the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz said he welcomed the decision.

At the 2019 #HealthMeetsTechNG hackathon organised by EpiAFRIC, Dr. Farouk Jega, Senior Country Representative for Pathfinder International, mentioned that under the Saving Mothers Giving Life (SMGL) initiative, supported by Pathfinder and other stakeholders, Cross River State had experienced a 66% decrease in maternal mortality. I was particularly interested in the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) part of the initiative.

Witness reveals in court how ECOWAS staff laundered money through him
Third prosecution witness (PW3), Adedeji Jide Adelabu, a bureau de change operator, on Thursday, November 28, 2019 told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, how Mohammed Dangana, a staff of the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS), instructed him to exchange and transfer millions of naira and foreign currencies to his personal accounts.
According to Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is prosecuting Dangana for criminal diversion of funds, misappropriation and money laundering to tune of over N500 million.

Lagos adjusts closing, resumption dates for public primary schools Y2019/2020

The Lagos State Government has announced the adjustment in closing date for first term year 2019/2020 and resumption date for second term Y2019/2020 school calendar.
The state government through State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, announced the adjustment in a circular dated November 27, 2019.
The circular was signed by Mrs. M. A Folami, Acting Director, School Support Services for Executive Chairman, SUBEB,
Folami explained that the measure has become necessary as the Public Pre-Primary School and Primary School Head Teachers and Teachers would be attending Eko Excel Pre Service Professional Development and Technology Training programme between December 2019 and January 2020.
