File photo used to illustrate story.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered N5.4 billion for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Executive Secretary of NHIS, Professor Muhammad Nasir Sambo, disclosed this on Thursday when he led the management of the agency on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja.

This information was provided in a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity for the EFCC, Wilson Uwajaren, on Thursday.
“In total, the EFCC has been able to recover about N5.4 billion for us out of the N12.085 billion that has been trapped; this is a monumental achievement and that is why we will ensure that we remain good partners to the EFCC,” he said.
Sambo commended the EFCC for the recoveries and assured that every kobo recovered will be judiciously utilised.
He also informed the EFCC about the reform efforts at the NHIS, which include the recruitment of health professionals to improve the scheme.
In his response, the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who was represented by the agency’s Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, reiterated the Commission’s resolve to work with the NHIS to achieve universal health coverage.
“The EFCC has no choice but to work with you, to make you succeed. We will always see to it that the investigation that we are doing, we will continue with it; we are happy that it is yielding result and all the monies or funds that are recovered are being put to good use. So we will not relent in our efforts to see that each and every kobo that is lost is recovered for the benefit of the country,” he said.

Nigeria: A Crime Scene, By Ettu Mohammed

The Department of Petroleum Resources DPR in February 2020 told Nigerians that our Pms consumption was 38.2 million liters per day.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC in June 2021 announced that the PMS daily consumption risen  to 103m liters. That is 64.8 million increase per day. That is 170% increase and they blamed smuggling for this numbers.

The NNPC also informed Nigerians that it currently spends N120 billion  daily as subsidy on the 103 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit consumed across the country everyday.  This figures do not add up to the landing cost of petroleum.
June 2021 Mele Kyari, group managing director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said  the cost of premium motor spirit (PMS), better known as petrol, should be N256 per litre at filling stations.  Meaning we are now paying as much as N90-94 per litre as subsidy.
This means we many be apaying as much as N94 x 103,000,000 per day ~ N290.4 billion per month if we use decide to believe the lies of The GMD of NNPC.
Remember the figures of our subsidy  payment is shrouded in secrecy.
Buhari the Petroleum Minister said recently  that the activities of the smugglers led to the recent abnormal surge in the evacuation of petrol from less than 39 million litres per day to more than 102 million litres per day, which was in sharp contrast with established national consumption pattern.
64.8 million liters  added per day is. 64, 000, 000X 365= 23.3  billion liters per year that would be lost to smugglers according to The Petroleum Minister.
38 million liters to 103m liters per day is 170% increase.
The details 1.  Benin has a population of      12.46 million in 20212.  Niger has a population of      25.1 million in 20213. Chad has a population of      16.92 million in 20214. Togo has a population of      8.45 million in 20215. Cameroon has a population        27.25 million in 20216. Ghana has a population        31.7 million in 20217. Cote d ivoire  has a population       27 million in 2021That is a total of  148.88 million Nigeria has a population of 211.6 million
We were told we use 38.2 million Liters day by DPR and NNPC told us the figure increased due to smuggling in just a year. That means: 1 person in Nigeria consumes about 0.18 liters /day , and  we now We have 64.8 million  liters deficit per day is that not suicide ?If 1 person consumes 0.18 liters/ day
149 million people will consume only 26.82 million  litres/day in those 7 west African Nations using Nigeria’s figures to determine their own usage. We all know the Nigerian figures is fictional and already inflated.
Adding Nigeria figures to The 7 west African nations surrounding Nigeria will amount to 38 million + 27 million liters = 65 million liters.  This means 38 million liters is no where to be found this  and we all know that it is practically impossible for these west African nation to depend on smugglers for their PMS supplies.  It is safe to say at least 64 million liters is stolen by some actors within amounting  N497.6 billion every month.
Please NOTE that NNPC does about 90-98% of Nigeria’s PMS importation.
Is Buhari telling us  64.8 million  litres of PMS is smuggled out of Nigeria daily or 1963 trucks and he is the president and can’t salvage the situation?
Are we saying the aforementioned countries depends 100% on our fuel import.
NNPC figures are fictitious and it cannot stand any scrutiny.
I restate Nigeria is a Crime Scene which should be cordoned off.

NASS: National Asylum Run By Inmates, By Bayo Oluwasanmi

Albert Camus yearned for a country that an honorable man could love and love justice too. Majority of Nigerians are convinced that Nigeria is not such a country courtesy of members of the National Asylum (NASS) run by inmates. There’s a widespread hopelessness among Nigerians about Nigeria. These are times of dramatic conflict between the forces of good and evil, light and darkness.
Separation of powers in a federal system of government is associated with checks and balances. The checks and balances system provides each branch of government individual powers to check the other branches and prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful. For example, the president can veto any bill passed by the NASS, but a two-thirds vote in the NASS can override the veto. The president can appoint Supreme Court judges, but the Senate must approve these choices.

The NASS members have become rubber stamps for The Butcher of Aso Rock, General Muhammadu Buhari by blindly following him. They are complicit in the flawed stewardship of Nigeria. They are putting their rubber-stamp approach to politics ahead of the priorities of the Nigerian people they represent. In a democracy, legislators have the right of dissent and the freedom to disagree with the executive- the president. The other option is a blanket dictatorship given to Buhari.
In the absence of active, vigilant, and concerned  legislators, Buhari has become a maximum ruler never seen in a democracy. The inmates who run the NASS let Buhari gets away with murder. They let Buhari subvert our democracy. They allow Buhari to uproot the rule of law and muzzle the judiciary. With their complicity, Buhari is the newest African Emperor in the 21st Century!
They encourage and empower Buhari to flout court rulings. Because the legislators have sold their oversight functions for a pittance, Buhari does what he likes. He terrorized a section of the country – the southerners.  The Fulani terrorists are untouchable. The SSS has become his personal secret service police. The legislators failed to hold SSS accountable or call the agency to order. They over look the killings, rape, robbery, carried out by Buhari and his Fulani terrorists. They gave Buhari power to kill, arrest, persecute, and prosecute Yorubas, Igbos, and other non-Fulani ethnic groups.
While Buhari was busy stacking all federal offices, agencies, corporations, judiciary, armed forces with Fulanis, the legislators turned blind eyes to the Federal Character clause in the Constitution. Their preoccupation is fighting over “juicy positions” and looting. They failed to invoke the constitution to check nepotism, terrorism, and other barbaric excesses of a possessed tyrant. They are not bothered about  equity, fairness, and justice for all Nigerians. They let Buhari and his Fulani jihadists hold the rest rest of the country hostage. Instead of abrogating the fascist document – the Abdulsalami Abubakar 1999 Constitution and substituting it with a new one, they keep on amending the useless document. They behave as if all is well with the country. The immediate problem that consumes  their attention is 2023.
No sane Nigerian expects anything better from the loosely controlled criminals and ex-convicts. They have been neutered by greed, fraud, and corruption. Their political pendulums oscillate between romantic illusions bothering on blindness and cruelty. Their ineptitude, greed, and cowardice suggest they are intellectually and morally sterile.
All who are not lunatics are agreed about certain things: that it is better to be alive than dead. Better to be adequately fed than starved. Better to be free than a slave. Only inmates at National Asylum think otherwise. The law makers are greedily content that Nigerians should suffer. The competition of crass buffoonery in the NASS of money changers depicts a theater-cruelty style that is unmatched in our history of representative democracy.
It is unduly fastidious and punitively grinding to attempt to abbreviate the extent of the lunacy of the legislators and how far they will go to please, praise, and shield Buhari from facing the wrath of the people. The only thing the brazen-faced law makers are known for is: they specialized in coordinating looting spree.
With these inmates in charge of NASS, Nigeria is doomed. Nigeria is beyond repairs, restructure, and can never be redeemed. The only way out of the morass of lies, corruption, inaction, and slavish obedience to a terrorist president is break up.

Benin Artifacts And The Choice Facing Robin Hood, By Azu Ishiekwene

Azu Ishiekwene

When you find two people from the Benin kingdom talking these days, chances are that they are talking artifacts. That kingdom never ceases to amaze me with the mythical, almost perplexing rootedness of its people to the past, side by side with a modern, avantgarde spirit.
Not that bread-and-butter issues have disappeared in Bini talk. Or that safety and security are no longer a concern. It’s just that the news of the possible return of artifacts stolen from the Benin kingdom over 120 years ago has somehow displaced current misery, however temporary.

Azu Ishiekwene

Yet, the conversation is also a statement of reckoning, an indication of how far the world has moved from Robin Hood, the decorated thief in English legend.
Part of the legacy of slavery and colonialism was that the spoils belonged to the victor. Humans were chattel, and artifacts, side menu. In the world of the marauders of the time, humans, animals and artifacts were part of the spoils of war.
Aborigines in North America and Australia; blacks in Africa and minorities in different parts of the world were victims of this travesty for centuries.
The world has come a long way since, yet the vestiges of that horrific era linger on. Not only in our memories but also in the private collections and museums of private and institutional thieves who keep making money and excuses at the same time, for delaying restitution.
The value of art stolen from Africa alone is worth billions of dollars by current estimates. But it is worth even more in spiritual currency. A BBC report three years ago quoting the New York Times, said, US art collector, Harry A Franklin, bought the Bangwa Queen, a wooden carving from Cameroon, for $29,000 in 1966. After his death, the artifact was sold for $3.4million.
At Sotheby’s, the famous British-founded American auction house, the Clyman’s Fang Head, a Gabonese masterpiece, was offered for sale at between $2.5 and $4million last year.
On a visit to Africa in 2018, French President, Emmanuel Macron, said while there were historical explanations for the theft of African artifacts, there are no valid justifications that are durable and unconditional. “African heritage,” he said, “can’t just be in European private collections and museums.”
But that’s precisely where they have been for centuries. Three years after Macron’s lip service, the plundered artifacts are still languishing in private collections and museums.
Macron is not the only problem. From ongoing discussions in Nigeria, the misery of pirated artifacts would be compounded not only by empty promises, but also by needless squabbles about provenance – their original home.
Nigeria is expecting Benin bronzes looted since 1897. Two senior German ministers told a Nigerian delegation on a recent visit to that country led by Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the German government planned “a substantial” repatriation of the plundered artifacts. The Nigerian government is demanding, and rightly so, that the return should be “whole” and “unconditional”.
According to reports, the trove of looted items includes carved elephant tusks, ivory leopard statues, wooden heads and at least 900 brass plaques dating from the 16th and 17th century.
Reports also say that over 3,000 Benin bronzes stolen in the 19th century are marooned in Europe and the US. German museums are hosting nearly half of this figure.
The debate in Nigeria, especially among Benin folks, from whose homeland the artifacts were stolen, is not whether the loot should be returned, but to whose custody it should be returned. The house is divided against itself.
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki wants the artifacts back in the custody of the state government and has, in a subversive masterstroke, recruited the Oba’s son to press his case.
Obaseki, the private sector’s gift to public service, is brimming with ideas of how to make the artifacts speak in foreign currency, by bringing in hundreds of tourists. The suspicion is that his motive is to hijack the collection and privatise it as retirement benefit.
Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, on the other hand, wants the artifacts returned to the palace, from where they were stolen; while Mohammed has said the priority of the Nigerian government is to have the artifacts on Nigerian soil.
Since the artifacts don’t speak or understand German, I’ve tried to establish in whose course history might deploy itself. The closest historical antecedent in support of the palace is the case of the Faberge Eggs, looted from the palace of Russia’s imperial family by Bolsheviks during the Russian revolution.
Around 2004 when Roman Abramovich was lusting after Chelsea Football Club in the UK, his counterpart, Victor Vekselberg, made a stake of $90million on the Faberge Eggs. The storied egg is an intricately woven treasure chest made of precious metals and gems including the Coronation Egg, containing the prototype of the coach which Empress Alexandra rode into Moscow in 1897.
Though Vekselberg did not say what he wanted to do with the collection, which is the second largest after those in the Kremlin, he said it was a redemption which captured the religious and spiritual essence of the Russian people. Since the revolution swept away the Russian imperial family, we cannot say what might have been the family’s disposition towards the retrieval of the Faberge Eggs.
The point is: its recovery was an investment by a Russian oil sheikh. What he has done with it is nobody’s business.
When countries have been involved in negotiations for the return of plundered artifacts, however, the records suggest that they’re returned directly to the country of origin, first of all.
Eight years ago, when The Boston Globe reported that eight artifacts, including a wooden ancestral figure stolen from Oron, Southern Nigeria, were being returned from the Boston Museum, the objects – including the wooden figure – were apparently returned to the Nigerian museums.  I’m not sure the “Ahta Oro”, the paramount traditional ruler of Oron, made a case for provenance.
Similar repatriations by the US, Australia and the UK to India were received by the country, not by private individuals or the domains from where they were plundered. The Netherlands did the same with the stolen antiquities of Indonesia, returning artifacts dating back to 5000 B.C.
It would appear though that once pirated collections have been returned in certain jurisdictions, a valid case can be made for repatriation to the crime scene.
In the US, for example, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act is a federal law passed in 1990 that provides a process for museums and federal agencies to return certain Native American cultural items, such as human remains, funeral objects, sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony to lineal descendants.
Australia has no laws directly governing repatriation, but a government programme exists that returns Aborigine artifacts. Sweden returned the totem pole stolen by a Swede from Canada to the community of origin; while Italy returned the magnificent sixth-century krater to its place of origin in Rome after a period of loan to the national museum.
From the time of Erediauwa, the father of the current Oba, the Benin palace has invested in and campaigned vigorously for the return of pirated artifacts. The governor should not give the impression that he wants to reap where he has not sown or that he is desperate to have the collection as another set of trophies on his front desk.
It would appear that the disagreement between the palace and Obaseki’s Osadebey House over the artifacts is a continuation of war by other means. In last year’s governorship election between incumbent Obaseki and his challenger, Ize Iyamu, the palace barely disguised its preference for the latter.
For Obaseki to win the election and on top of that also strive to become the curator of priceless objects stolen from the palace, possibly with the assistance of his forebears, is understandably too much for the Oba to bear. Unfortunately, the governor’s winner-takes-all politics is re-echoing concerns that he could still be possessed of the subversive spirit that aided and abetted the plundering campaign of the Benin kingdom .
The parties must close ranks. They need to work with Abuja first, to develop a cultural preservation programme, and then to recover the artifacts as quickly as possible to their ancestral home. There’s nothing more a reluctant Robin Hood would love than a house divided against itself.
Strife and irreconcilable differences among members of the elite would suggest that the stolen artifacts might indeed be safer in exile.
Let’s bring the artifacts home, where they belong.

Ex-Nigerian Vice-President, Atiku Support Group Reacts To Distribution Of His Branded Bread In Kano

Atiku Kawai Media Group, an organisation loyal to Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has distanced itself from the distribution of loaves of bread in Kano, which were branded with its name.

In a statement issued by the founder of the group, AbdulRasheed Sheu, the group said it did not authorise the distribution of the loaves of bread, but saw it as a well-intended gesture from a fan and loyalist of Atiku.

The group said it subsequently contacted the baker, Aminu Yusuf.

The group, however, said Atiku had yet to make his intentions known over a rumoured presidential ambition.

The statement read, “We are compelled to react to this headline as the owner of the Atiku Kawai brand and by extension, a Media group endorsed by His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar.

“Atiku Kawai as a media group did not authorise anyone to brand, bake or share Atiku Kawai Special Bread. Atiku Kawai is the people’s movement and we welcome everyone on board. While we see this as a well-intended gesture from a fan and loyalist of H.E Atiku Abubakar, the baker, Aminu Yusuf, has been contacted and appropriate details, communicated.

“H.E Atiku Abubakar has not declared his intention of running for any political position in Nigeria after his last political outing in 2019. More so, he is currently touring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states to reconcile members of his party in preparation for a ‘Come Back’ in 2023.

“According to him, today in Port Harcourt, the issues currently on the ground is how to ensure unity and stability in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is critical for the party to clinch electoral victory in 2023.

“In his words, ‘Well, I came here (Port Harcourt) to reconcile with the governor on party affairs and how we can ensure unity and stability in the party. So that we can take over the government in 2023. I believe that Nigerians can’t wait for 2023 to come so that PDP will return.’

“By this press release, we hereby refute the false assumption of some quarters which is deliberate, all in the name of politics, to attack the personage of H.E Atiku Abubakar and the Atiku Kawai Media Group.

“We, however, remain focused on our goal, the promotion of the ideals, policies, and engagements of H.E Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President of Nigeria.”

Some loyalists of Atiku had commenced the distribution of loaves of bread, branded ‘Atiku Kawai’ (Atiku Only) to Kano State residents.

It was claimed that Atiku was nursing a presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 elections, although he has not publicly confirmed it.

The former Vice President has been running for the highest office since 1993.

He was the presidential candidate of the PDP in 2019, losing to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku challenged Buhari’s victory after the 2019 presidential election, but the Supreme Court dismissed the case.

How Nigerian Soldiers Killed One, Razed Houses In Abia Communities To Avenge Colleague

File Photo

Residents of Ohafia communities in Abia State have lamented the terror unleashed on them by soldiers of the Nigerian Army who allegedly invaded their communities, killing and burning houses.
The soldier allegedly attacked Ohafia in retaliation following a military officer that was shot by suspected armed members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, in the town.

File Photo

The attack resulted in loss of properties worth millions of naira while the affected victims were left in a state of hopelessness.
It was learnt that the incident happened when a military officer who had reportedly come to Ebem daily market to buy goods, without any sign of provocation, was shot at Ebem by some men in mufti.
The injured soldier was said to have escaped the scene of the incident with injuries, but soon after, several other soldiers stormed the market.
They arrived at the Ebem Park which is about three kilometres from their barracks and dislodged all workers.
They also occupied the premises for two weeks and demanded information about the men that shot their colleague, ICIR reports.
A report by The ICRI said, “After vacating Ebem Park, the soldiers reportedly set up roadblocks and invaded some villages in Ohafia such as Amangwu, which shares a border with Ebonyi State and is surrounded by forests and bushes, with only a few motorable roads. Residents of Amangwu are predominantly farmers and traders, and the soldiers believed that they were providing refuge for the gunmen.
“The ICIR learnt that military personnel stormed Amangwu on June 11 in seven Army Hilux vans, shooting sporadically and throwing firebombs into shops and houses. According to multiple sources, the soldiers stayed in the village for two days before leaving on June 13.
“A commercial motorcycle rider from Okongo who came to the community to drop off a lady was reportedly killed by the soldiers during the sporadic shootings.
“Multiple accounts from residents said the motorcyclist was hit by a stray bullet and escaped to a nearby building for safety, but the soldiers went after him, dragged him out and rained more bullets on him until he died. His kinsmen later retrieved his body for burial.”
According to ICIR, only a few traders could be seen at Amangwu market doing business as many shops had been destroyed.
“We were outside when we heard that men of the Nigerian Army were coming, soon we started hearing gunshots and we had to abandon our shops and run into the village,” a businesswoman Ucha Ndukwe, who lost five shops to the incident told The ICIR.
“I just bought new stocks for my shop. I deal in palm oil and provisions, but by the time I came back, everything was already razed down. I did not even have a pin to pick,” Ucha who is a widow also told the medium.
She said life has been mostly unbearable for her and her children since the incident.
The traditional ruler of Amangwu community, A.A. Obobi said he was inside his chambers when he heard that the Nigerian Army were advancing towards the community.
“I was inside my palace when I learnt that the Nigerian Army officials were taking over the community, I could not go out because I did not want to be injured, even though some youths tried to stand their ground but houses were burnt by the soldiers, we lost properties amid wanton destruction.
“By the time men of the Army were leaving, they had destroyed 28 houses and we had lost properties worth over N50 million.
“Many persons left the community due to the attack, women and children had to leave due to the incident of the attack and when some persons came back, we learnt that the men of the Nigerian Army were planning to come back and people moved out again,” he narrated.
The traditional ruler also confirmed the death of the motorcyclist and noted that he was making efforts through the local government council to reach out to the state government to investigate the incident and compensate the victim.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army according to The ICRI, confirmed that it carried out a joint “clearance operation” in the area but said reports that the operation was a reprisal after an officer was shot by gunmen were false.
“The true position is that troops carried out routine clearance operations in line with the rules of engagement and respect for fundamental human rights of the citizens aimed to restore socio-economic activities which were hitherto disrupted by criminal activities of IPOB/ESN elements who attack security agents and government infrastructures,” a statement by the former Director Army Public Relations, Mohammed Yerima released on June 14, said.
The statement added that troops of the Nigerian Army working in conjunction with personnel of Nigeria Police and other security agencies leveraging on timely and accurate intelligence provided by patriotic citizens were working tirelessly to restore normalcy to troubled areas and to rid the state of criminal elements.
The ICRI reports that the newly appointed Director Army Public Relations Onyema Nwachukwu, who assumed office on June 16, told The ICIR that the clearance operation was carried out based on credible intelligence, to restore socio-economic stability, law and order, which the law-abiding citizens have been denied as a result of the atrocious activities of the ESN.
While speaking with The ICIR, the Commissioner for Information in Abia state, John Okiyi Kalu pledged to ensure that justice is served as a way to protect the rights of their citizens.
“This government has zero-tolerance for human rights abuses or extra-judicial action of any kind. Any place we have that we will take it up to defend our citizens to ensure that there is dignity upheld and all is working well,” he noted.

Otis Wright of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to track down Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud.
Abbas was arrested in Dubai last June and he pleaded guilty to fraud in the U.S. this week.
The FBI said Abbas and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.
American prosecutors first sought a court warrant to arrest Kyari on February 12, 2021.
Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.
Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in U.S. custody was unsealed on July 26.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Hushpuppi narrated how he bribed Kyari to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1 million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.
Abbas had asked Kyari to arrest and jail a fellow fraudster Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1 million loot received from the Qatari businessperson.
Abbas had pleaded guilty to a multi-million fraud earlier this month and faces up to 20 years in jail.

Nigeria Police Should Begin Disciplinary Action Against Celebrated Policeman, Kyari Over Fraud Allegations—Falana

Femi Falana (SAN)

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) says the United States of America cannot extradite Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari from the country without due process.
He, however, added that the police authorities in Nigeria should initiate urgent disciplinary action against the policeman.

A US District Court of California had issued a warrant of arrest for Kyari over his role in a fraud committed by notorious internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi.
SaharaReporters gathered that Otis Wright of the District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to arrest the Nigerian police chief and produce him in the United States for his role in a $1.1 million fraud.

Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.
It was further gathered that Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Kyari and hold him in US custody was unsealed on July 26, 2021.
Hushpuppi, 37, who was arrested in Dubai last June pleaded guilty to various charges, including money laundering, wire fraud, and felony
He also said he used Kyari, a leader of the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team, to jail a fellow Fraudster, Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1 million loot taken from the Qatari businessperson.
Vincent subsequently contacted the victim and informed them that they were being scammed by a syndicate involving him and Abbas, US court documents read.
This angered Hushpuppi, who contacted Kyari and asked him to arrest and jail his rival over the dispute. Abbas said Kyari sent to him pictures of Vincent in jail and subsequently sent his bank account number to Abbas to which a wire transfer should be made having done a good job as sent by Abbas.

Nigerian Fraudster, Hushpuppi Narrates How He Paid Bribes To Police Chief, Abba Kyari In $1.1million Deal

“Court documents outline a dispute among members of the conspiracy, which allegedly prompted Vincent to contact the victim and claim that Abbas and Juma were engaged in fraud. After this contact, Abbas allegedly arranged to have Vincent jailed in Nigeria by Kyari, 46.
“According to the affidavit, Kyari is a highly decorated deputy commissioner of the Nigeria Police Force who is alleged to have arranged for Vincent to be arrested and jailed at Abbas’ behest, and then sent Abbas photographs of Vincent after his arrest. Kyari also allegedly sent Abbas bank account details for an account into which Abbas could deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment,” US Justice department said in a statement.
The FBI added that Abbas and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.
Reacting in a statement sent to SaharaReporters, Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said the US and Nigeria have an extradition treaty which covers the offences allegedly committed by the police boss.
He added that the US government will have to request for Kyari’s extradition in accordance with the terms of the treaty.
The senior lawyer also urged the the police authorities to initiate urgent disciplinary action against the officer in the interim.
He said, “The United States and Nigeria have an extradition treaty which covers the offences allegedly committed by CP Abba Kyari. If the police officer insists on his innocence, he may want to submit himself to the jurisdiction of the District Court in the United States.
“Otherwise, the United States Government will have to request for his extradition in accordance with the terms of the Treaty. Once the request is received by the Federal Government, the Attorney-General/Minister of Justice will commence extradition proceedings in the Federal High Court.
“Alternatively, the office of the Attorney-General may file charges against the police officer since the offences were committed in Nigeria. In the interim, the police authorities are under a legal obligation to initiate urgent disciplinary action against the officer.
“When i suggested to the Federal Government to request for the extradition of Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Igboho), I was simply saying the authorities of both Nigeria and Benin Republic should operate under international law. I am also asking Nigeria and the United States to handle Abba Kyari’s case under international law.”

Three Policemen Injured As Robbers Attack Bullion Van In Ondo

Some men, suspected to be armed robbers, on Thursday afternoon attacked a bullion van conveying cash to Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The attack happened in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area.

The robbers however failed in the operation as a combined team of security operatives thwarted the move.
Three policemen, however, sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.
“The driver of the bullion van and the police team were alerted to the danger ahead by another bullion van driver and police escorts heading to Ondo, which made them to make a detour immediately.
“The robbers gave them a hot chase and started shooting at them, resulting in the injuries sustained by the three policemen during the exchange of gunfire,” a resident said.
This comes barely two weeks after a robbery incident happened in Ilaramokin, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, in which three persons, including a journalist, Bunmi Afuye were shot dead.

E2%80%94-efcc-source-says-police-keep-mum We’ve Been Contacted By FBI To Arrest Kyari, But It Is Police Matter— EFCC Source Says As Police Keep Mum

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says it has been contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to arrest Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, over his connection with a serial internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas (Hushpuppi).
A top source in the EFCC disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday.

However, the source stated that the case was not within the capacity of the EFCC but for the police to handle.
“FBI has contacted EFCC, asking that we arrest Abba Kyari but we told them that it is a police matter,” the source in the EFCC said.
But when SaharaReporters reached out to the Nigeria Police Force, it conspicuously kept mute over the allegation levelled against its ‘Super Cop’ who has enjoyed praises for his service over the years.
Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had earlier reported that a United States’ Court issued a warrant of arrest for Kyari.
Otis Wright of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to track down Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud.
Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai last June and he pleaded guilty to fraud in the US this week.
The FBI said Abbas and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.
American prosecutors first sought a court warrant to arrest Kyari on February 12, 2021, according to court documents seen by People’s Gazette.
Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.
Judge Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in US custody was unsealed on July 26.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Hushpuppi narrated how he bribed Kyari to have one of his rivals, Kelly Chibuzor Vincent arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over proceeds of fraud amounting to $1.1 million.

The money was dubiously taken from a Qatari businessperson.
Abbas pleaded guilty to a multi-million fraud earlier this month and faces up to 20 years in jail.
He will be sentenced in the coming weeks and will forfeit some of his assets and his rights to appeal, while also paying restitution to victims of his fraudulent activities.
Kyari, in a statement on Facebook, has, however, dismissed the allegations of bribe.
