COVID-19: Yobe records ‘155 deaths’ in six days

About 155 persons have reportedly  died in  Yobe State in the last six days after exhibiting symptoms related to coronavirus pandemic. The deaths, which were said to have occurred in Gashua and Potiskum,  have caused panic among residents of the state, coming about two weeks  after similar incidents were  experienced in Kano State. El-Rufai inaugurates Governing Board of Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, yesterday inaugurated a 15-member new governing board of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship. The fellowship is a youth leadership capacity-building programme that was established in 2018 by the administration of Governor El-Rufai. Herders kill three, abduct policewoman, others in Ogun, Delta

Herdsmen have killed at least three people, injured many and abducted several others in parts of Ogun and Delta states. While a driver was killed in Ogun State, two vigilantes were murdered in Delta State. A House of Representatives member, Hon. Face mask violators’ll be isolated at personal cost –Akeredolu

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State yesterday said those violating the use of face masks would henceforth be arrested. Akeredolu, who disclosed this during the flag-off distribution of the 500,000 face masks produced by the state government, said anybody arrested on the street without a face mask would be placed on 14 days isolation at the violator’s own cost. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, yesterday told security agencies to give journalists free movement during the 8p.m. to 6a.m. curfew imposed on the state. According to him, journalists have the right to move and drive at night during the curfew in the state. Niger now has eight confirmed cases

Two more positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Niger State. This has brought the total number of confirmed cases in the state to eight. It was learnt yesterday that the index case from Limawa in Minna, the state capital, has been discharged after his second result returned negative. Abia arrests 26 people hiding inside trucks

Abia State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Dan Okoli, said yesterday that two trucks belonging to Dangote Group were intercepted while conveying 26 people into the state illegally. Judge who annulled June 12 election dies in Bauchi

Justice Dahiru Saleh, the judge who annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election is dead. The retired judge, who was a former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory died in Bauchi State. He was buried in his hometown of Azare, yesterday evening. He held the title of “Mutawalle” of Katagum Emirate in Bauchi until his death.
