Former Chief Of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, Accused Of Collecting N50m Gratification For Building Projects

The General Manager of Blue Boulevard Limited, Peter-Kings Osunde, said he transferred the sum of N50m into the personal account of former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (retd), as gratification for the building projects he executed for the Nigerian Air Force.
He made the revelation on Monday in Abuja while appearing before the House of Representatives joint committees on Air Force and Justice at the investigative hearing to probe the Nigerian Air Force over a controversial ?10bn building project owned by Blue Boulevard Limited.
The company had petitioned the House after accusing the military of breach of an agreement they had over a land NAF leased to the company.
Osunde said the Amosu demanded N50m from him as bribe money on the project.
He said, “The former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosun collected N50m from me. I paid the money into his personal account and I have the evidence. He cannot deny it.”
He explained how the project was frustrated through the invasion of the site by Air Force officers with a view to forcing him to accede to the demands of the Chief of Air Staff.
He revealed that the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force breached the first contractual agreement and forced him to enter into second agreement in the name of ‘oiling’ their pockets.
Osunde claimed that his company had built a mall and market for the Air Force in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He also accused them of ‘messing up’ the project before the expiration of the set duration “at a time over ?10bn had been spent”.
He said the company funded the project and was to run it for 20 years before handing it back to the Nigerian Air Force.

Group Petitions Police AIG Over Killing Of Man By Personnel In Ondo

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has petitioned the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI Osogbo, Osun State, Bashir Mahkama, over the killing of one Godwin Odey at Idanre, Ondo State, by some policemen.
In a copy of the petition obtained by SaharaReporterson Monday in Akure, the CDHR said it had tried to ensure that the case was not swept under the carpet by the police in Ondo.
The group in the petition accused Commissioner of Police in Ondo, Undie Adie, of suppressing investigation into the murder.
CDHR Chairman in Ondo State, Alfred Olorunwo, in the petition said, “On December 5, 2019, one Akinrodolu Ebenezer went to CSP Ubine Eugene; the Divisional Police Officer at Olofin Police Division, Idanre, Ondo State, and lodged complaint to enforce the collection of money or due for Idanre Day celebration 2019.
“Thereafter, CSP Eugene ordered Constable Akorede Samuel to follow Akinrodolu Ebenezer to camps in Idanre towards enforcing payment of Idanre Day celebration 2019. At the commander’s camp, Idanre, Ebenezer collected money from one John Adie and when he demanded for receipts, the former gave excuses.
“At the end, Constable Samuel struck one Godwin Odey with a heavy stick on the chest, the said Odey started vomiting blood. Constable Samuel and his boss detained Odey and some of his townsmen at Olofin Police Division, few days later Odey died at a hospital.”
The group explained that it had earlier written a petition to the Ondo Police Commissioner to investigate the murder case of Odey but he failed to act.
The group noted that Adie had never approved the petition for any further investigation or action but was rather using his position as Commissioner of Police to suppress the case.
The CDHR however, urged AIG Mahkama to re-visit the case with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
SaharaReporters learnt that the remains of Odey was still in a morgue at Idanre.

Women Arise, Afenifere Demand Investigation Into Lagos Explosion

Women Arise and Afenifere have both called for a thorough investigation to be carried out into the explosion that rocked the Abule Ado area of Lagos on Sunday morning.
Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, President of Women Arise, said findings must be done to uncover those responsible for the incident, adding that such persons must be punished.
She said, “It is a gory development that should get us worried as we continue to lose our precious citizens in avoidable circumstances.
“We demand an inquiry into this sad incident so as to get to the root cause of this great disaster.
“There must be people responsible for this incident and they must not go unpunished.”
Also backing the call, Afenifere through its National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, stated that it was distressed by the tragedy.
The group linked the explosion to the suspected presence of Boko Haram terrorists in Lagos.
He said, “We call for an open inquiry into this incident coming three weeks after the Chief of Army Staff announced the presence of Boko Haram terrorists in Lagos.
“The explosion targeting a missionary girls school and the impact of it being felt kilometres from the scene with cars parked at far distance having their windscreens shattered, make us reject the different causes of the explosion as ascribed to without any investigation.
“We hold our breath until a forensic investigation is done to ascertain the real cause of this explosion that has left so many families bereaved.”
