The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare on Tuesday hit hard at the members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as they held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Benin City, Edo State, saying football in Nigeria has become comatose under their watch.
Mr. Dare, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusade Adesola, warned that the world has taken note of the decline of the sport in Nigeria and that tough questions that require urgent answers are being asked.

Barcelona and Real Madrid get set for politically charged Clasico
Barcelona and Real Madrid will travel to the Clasico on Wednesday from the same hotel as part of a large-scale security operation aimed at reducing the impact of Catalan independence protests.
The fixture had to be postponed in October due to violent demonstrations and there are renewed fears of unrest breaking out around Camp Nou, where Barca and Madrid will tussle for top spot in La Liga.
Around 3,000 security personnel will be deployed at the stadium and both teams have been instructed to gather at the Hotel Princesa Sofia at midday (1100 GMT) on Wednesday, eight hours before kick-off.

Super Eagles to play first 2022 World Cup match in Benin

The Super Eagles will play their opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign at the newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Disclosing this Tuesday night here, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick said the match would be played in March after the draw for the global football fiesta would have been conducted on January 21 at the Cairo headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Flamengo come from behind to book Club World Cup final slot
Bruno Henrique scored one goal and made two more to book Flamengo’s place in the final of the Club World Cup as the Brazilian giants came from behind to beat Asian champions Al Hilal 3-1 in Doha on Tuesday.
Salem Aldawsari gave the Saudi club a deserved lead in the first half of this semi-final on a rare rainy night at the Khalifa International Stadium, but Flamengo woke up after the interval and equalised through Giorgian De Arrascaeta in the 49th minute.

Serie A ‘sorry’ for monkeys in anti-racism campaign
The head of Serie A on Tuesday apologised for using art featuring monkeys in an anti-racism campaign.
The Italian top flight had initially said the work aimed to defend the values of “integration, multiculturalism and fraternity”, but was forced to backpedal after widespread criticism and ridicule.
Serie A’s managing director Luigi De Siervo said he “apologises to everyone offended by the work by artist Simone Fugazzotto”, which showed three monkeys in close-up, but with slightly different colours over the basic brown.
