The South African Cricketers’ Association on Tuesday rejected a move by the embattled board of Cricket South Africa to find a solution to an issue which is the subject of ongoing legal action.
SACA repeated its call for the board to resign as the rift between players and board showed no signs of being healed, despite the suspension of chief executive Thabang Moroe and the appointment of Jacques Faul as interim chief executive, Graeme Smith as interim director of cricket and Mark Boucher as head coach of the national team.

Man bags 3 weeks jail for stealing electricity bulb
A Karmo Grade I Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Tuesday, sentenced one Saidu Ahmadu to three weeks in prison for housebreaking and theft of a light bulb.
The Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, sentenced Ahmadu after he had pleaded guilty to the charge of house breaking and theft.
Maiwada sentenced the convict without an option of fine.
The police had charged the convict of Lagos Street Gwagwa, Abuja with house breaking and theft.

Zidane says Real Madrid only focused on football amid fears of Clasico unrest
Zinedine Zidane has said he is not worried about Wednesday’s Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona being overshadowed by Catalan independence protests.
The fixture was originally scheduled for October 26 but had to be postponed and there are renewed fears of unrest at Camp Nou, where Madrid and Barca will be playing for first place in La Liga.
“I am not worried about anything,” said Zidane in a press conference on Tuesday.

Nigerian inflation rises to 11.85% in November

The consumer price index, which measures inflation increased by 11.85 per cent in November 2019. The figure is 0.24 per cent points higher than (11.61) per cent, the rate recorded in October 2019.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics report published on its website on Tuesday, increases were recorded in all Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose (COICOP) divisions that yielded the Headline index.
According to the report, the Headline index increased by 1.02 per cent in November 2019, On a month-on-month basis, indicating 0.05 per cent rate lower than the rate recorded in October 2019 (1.07) per cent.

Ops Rattle Snake: NAF aircraft destroys ISWAP logistics storage facilities
The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has dealt another decisive blow on terrorist elements operating in the Northeast of the Country.
This was achieved air strikes executed as part of the ongoing Operation Rattle Snake that led to the destruction of some Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics storage facilities at Kirta Wulgo on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno State.

Breaking: Senate summons Aregbesola, Immigration boss over free visa entry policy

The Senate on Tuesday summoned the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to appear before its committees on Interior, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters to explain the reason for the recently introduced free visa entry policy.
Also summoned by the Senate is the Comptroller – General of Nigerian Immigration Service ( NIC) Mohammad Babandede
Resolutions of the Senate was sequel to a motion moved to by Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, All Progressives Congress, APC, Ekiti North.

ICPC: NSCDC deputy commandant to forfeit 60 buildings
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been granted an order to forfeit 60 buildings linked to a deputy commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The order was granted by Federal High Court 6, sitting in Abuja presided over by Justice Okon Abang J.
According to ICPC news release, the erstwhile staff of the NSCDC, Ms Adenike Ishola Bintu and her company, Faith Winners Properties Nigeria Ltd were charged for using her company to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public into subscribing for allocation in a proposed housing estate while passing off the said estate project as a collaboration with her employer.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has told those interested in elective positions in 2023 to work hard as he will not allow anyone to use his name to canvass for votes.
President Buhari also assured Nigerians that he will superintend over free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
The president gave the assurance on Tuesday when some of his aides and staff of the State House and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha presented to him a birthday card to commemorate his 77th birthday anniversary at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Estonia minister under fire over ‘shop girl’ comment
Estonia’s opposition called for interior minister Mart Helme to resign on Tuesday after he labelled Finland’s new prime minister a “shop girl”.
Helme said on Sunday that the new Finnish government was trying to destroy its own country, comments that opposition leader Kaja Kallas said were humiliating to Estonia.
Estonia’s president has already apologised to Finland, whose new leader 34-year-old Sanna Marin became the world’s youngest prime minister last week.
Veteran Helme is leader and founder of the far-right Conservative People’s Party (EKRE), which joined the governing coalition after winning almost 18 percent of the vote in an election earlier this year.

Police arrest dismissed army gen. for allegedly dealing in firearms
The Commissioner of Police in Abia, Mr Ene Okon, said on Monday that the command arrested five persons in the last 10 months, including a dismissed Maj.-Gen. for allegedly dealing in firearms.
Okon said that the army general (name withheld) was arrested last week with some firearms in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.
He spoke at a news briefing in his office to highlight the achievements of the command since he assumed office in February.
