Sunshine Stars striker, Israel Abia, has said that his target for the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season is to score at least 23 goals.

Ancelotti sacked despite guiding Napoli to Champions League last 16
Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked by Napoli despite taking the Serie A side to the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Genk.
“Napoli has decided to relieve Carlo Ancelotti of his role as first team coach,” the Italian side said in a statement.
Tuesday’s win over Genk, which saw Napoli finish second in Group E, one point behind Liverpool, broke a nine-match winless run that came amid dressing room unrest and friction between the club, Ancelotti and the players.

European Leagues group slams reported plan for breakaway competition
The Association of European Leagues on Tuesday slammed reported plans backed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to create a closed Super League for the world’s richest clubs.
“We are getting very tired of all the threats coming from a few rich clubs in football. Threats that they are going to break away from the football ecosystem as we know it and create their own private environment,” said the organisation, which represents leagues across Europe, in a statement penned by its president, Lars-Christer Olsson.

Ancelotti defiant as Napoli advance in Champions League
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti ruled out resigning Tuesday after his side swept into the Champions League last 16 powered by Arkadiusz Milik’s hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Genk.
Ancelotti’s position at Napoli has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks, as the victory in Naples was the club’s first since beating Salzburg in October and snapped a nine-match winless run.
But pressed on his future in southern Italy, Ancelotti said he would not walk away from his job.

Qatar fully opened its new metro network on Tuesday in a major infrastructure milestone ahead of the football World Cup Doha will host in 2022.
The railway was opened just in time for the Club World Cup football tournament that kicks off Wednesday, with organisers hoping the metro will ease the burden on the wealthy Gulf emirate’s choked roads.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his side’s “intensity” after two goals in as many minutes from Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah meant they avoided an embarrassing early Champions League exit by winning 2-0 in Salzburg on Tuesday.
The European champions needed to avoid defeat against the Austrian title-holders to book their place in the last 16 and victory ensured they did so as winners of Group E ahead of Napoli.

Alkmaar’s stadium ready for Ajax clash after roof collapse
AZ Alkmaar will be able to play this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash with Ajax at their home ground after the Eredivisie club revealed on Tuesday that it was safe to hold matches four months after part of its roof collapsed.
In a statement, Alkmaar, who are second in the Dutch top flight, just three points behind reigning champions Ajax, said that the AFAS stadium was “safe again” after consultations with the local authorities in the northern Dutch city and an independent engineering firm.

Lasitskene: Russian high-jump star slams officials over ban
One of Russia’s top athletes, three-time world champion high jumper Mariya Lasitskene, on Tuesday called sports officials to account after her country was banned for four years from international competition.
In her open letter published by Championat.com sports website, Lasitskene, a longtime critic of Russian sports officials, demanded to know who has been punished over the country’s doping scandal and the fact that she cannot compete under the Russian flag.
Lasitskene missed the 2016 Rio Olympics because of the doping crisis and had threatened to leave Russia so as not to miss the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
