Liverpool boss Klopp: I was wrong to not sign Mane at Dortmund
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted to making the wrong call on deciding to not sign Sadio Mane while he was in charge at Borussia Dortmund.
Mane has developed into one of the world’s best players at Anfield over the past 12 months, scoring 22 goals in the Premier League last season, while he already has nine strikes and six assists in 15 league games this term.
Klopp had the opportunity to sign Mane during his final two years of his tenure at Dortmund, with the Senegal forward impressing significantly for Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga, but the German felt it wasn’t the right time.

Jurgen Klopp was in ‘competition mood’ at Monday’s media conference ahead of Liverpool’s crunch Champions League clash with Salzburg, taking exception to a translator’s response in German.

Dortmund midfielder Witsel out for rest of year after fall at home
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel has been ruled out for the rest of the year after being hospitalised by an “awkward fall” at his home.
Witsel, who played a full part in Saturday’s 5-0 Bundesliga win over Fortuna Dusseldorf, underwent oral and facial surgery at Klinikzentrum Nord Hospital over the weekend.
The Belgium international has been discharged from hospital but will miss at least four matches ahead of the mid-season break, starting with Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Slavia Prague
“Witsel will sadly be out for the rest of this year,” BVB boss Lucien Favre confirmed at Monday’s pre-match news conference.

Injury blow for Arsenal as Tierney forced off against West Ham
Arsenal suffered an injury blow when defender Kieran Tierney was forced off with what looked like a shoulder problem during the first half of Monday night’s Premier League clash with West Ham.
The Scotland international appeared to suffer the injury after colliding with Michail Antonio while defending a West Ham free-kick.
He was replaced by Sead Kolasinac, who was only promoted to the bench half an hour before kick-off when Hector Bellerin suffered an injury in the warm-up.
