Ihedioha promises to return glory to Imo through sports

The Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, on Monday said that with the launching of Imo sports festival glory will be returned to state and talents from Imo, will be exported outside the country.
Ihedioha spoke at Government House in Owerri, while lightening the touch for the 13th Imo sports festival with Chinasa Goodness Duru, as the torch bearer for this year’s Sports Festival.
He said the sports festival was part of his plan to return the state to the part of glory.

Court of Appeal upholds Governor Wike’s re-election, strikes out ADP’S appeal
The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday upheld the re-election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as they struck out the appeal filed by the defeated Governorship Candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr Victor Fingesi.
Mr Victor Fingesi had approached the Court of Appeal after the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal on October 5, 2019, dismissed his petition challenging the re-election of Governor Wike, PDP Governorship Candidate during the 2019 Election.

NYSC registers 1,054 corps members in Abia
NYSC
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Monday registered 1,054 corps members for the 2019 Batch C, Stream II orientation course in Abia for their one-year national service.
Mrs Bona Fasakin, NYSC Coordinator in Abia, disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony of the corps members on Monday in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area.

Fasakin said that the corps members registered were 548 males and 506 females, cutting across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Estimated Billing: Group seeks speedy passage of bill criminalising act
A group, ‘Electricity Consumer Protection Forum’ has called for the speedy passage of the bill seeking to criminalise estimated billings by Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) in the country.
Its National Coordinator, Mr Adeola Samuel-Ilori, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday.
Samuel-Ilori was reacting to a recent resolution of the Senate which urged the Federal Government to explore nuclear options in resolving Nigeria’s energy crisis.

Breaking: After 15 months in Navy detention without trial, EFCC produces Captain Dada Labinjo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday produced a naval chief, Captain Dada Labinjo, who had been in detention without trial for one year and three months, before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
Labinjo has been in the custody of the Nigerian Navy since September 2018.
The arraignment of the senior Naval officer on a two-count charge is going on before justice Muslim Hassan.

BREAKING: South African policeman sentenced to 32 years for killing Nigerian
A South African court has just sentenced a South African police officer for the murder of a Nigerian, Mr Ebuka Okoli.
The sentencing took place at Durban, Kwazulu Natal Province, Monday
President of Nigerian Citizens in South Africa, NICASA, Mr Ben Okoli, told Vanguard that the police officer was sentenced to “25 years for the murder and two years each for two counts of armed robbery and another three years for robbery with aggravated circumstances.

National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to lead the initiative for the adoption of electronic voting in the country.
The PDP chair stated this yesterday while playing host to a delegation from INEC drawn from the department of Election and Party Monitoring, EPM.
Secondus while chiding INEC for the conduct of the 2019 general elections particularly scored the commission low on the recently concluded Bayelsa and Kogi states governorship elections, describing them as the worst in the nation’s political history.
