Forest Green Rovers: English club set to bamboo-zle opposition

High-flying English fourth tier side Forest Green Rovers are to wear bamboo shin pads, furthering their claims to be the world’s greenest football club, they announced on Monday.
Forest Green — whose environmental credentials have been recognised by FIFA and the United Nations — had already become the first team to switch to bamboo kit at the beginning of the season.

Kelechi Iheanacho was the unlikely hero as Leicester came from behind to beat Everton 2-1 and close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League to eight points.
The Nigerian had not played a single minute of Premier League football this season prior to being summoned from the bench just after the hour mark, but Iheanacho teed up Jamie Vardy’s equaliser before scoring the winner deep into stoppage time.

Liverpool, Leicester and Tottenham were the big winners of the Premier League weekend as the only three sides in the top half to win.
The gap between Liverpool and Leicester at the top remains eight points, but the Foxes are now three points clear of Manchester City in second and six ahead of Chelsea, who suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat by West Ham.
Tottenham are up to fifth as they ride the wave of Jose Mourinho’s arrival, but Manchester United and Arsenal dropped more points in 2-2 draws with Aston Villa and Norwich respectively.

Nigerian contenders Enugu Rangers and Enyimba were both beaten by north African clubs on Sunday as the CAF Confederation Cup group phase kicked off.
Enugu Rangers coach Salisu Yusuf lost his first match in charge, with the sending off of defender Temitope Olusesi not helping as they crashed 3-1 at home against Egyptian opponents Pyramids.
Two-time African champions Enyimba conceded twice within 19 minutes of the kick-off to lose 2-0 away to Moroccan outfit Hassania Agadir, who reached the quarter-finals last season.

Nigerians react as Enugu Rangers allegedly sack coach over public address system

There were reports over the weekend of Nigerian Professional Football League side, Enugu Rangers announcing the sack of its coach, Benedict Ugwu, over the public address system even while the game was still on.
Benedict Ugwu was in the dugout for the game against Akwa starlets in a league game when the sack was announced. The game ended 0-2 in favor of Akwa Starlet.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria Masters tournament which teed off on Thursday at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja ended on Sunday.
The consistent Torgah emerged as the 2019 Masters champion; his fifth title on the tour this season and his 15th since the inception of the African Tour in 2016.
