Akpeyi sheds light on Khune rivalry at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi insists that there is no rivalry between him and Itumeleng Khune.
The Nigeria international has been enjoying regular game time as Amakhosi’s first-choice goalkeeper in the absence of club captain Khune.
Khune recently resumed full training with his teammates but his absence has had no impact on the team thanks to Akpeyi’s great form between the sticks.

Osinbajo’s leadership from God, says Sultan of Sokoto

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been described as the pride of Nigeria by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on Friday.
Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, applauded the Vice President for his leadership, which he said was given to him by God.
Prof. Osinbajo who gave a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the General Assembly of NSCIA was praised for his commitment to the country.

Ex-Nigeria goalkeeper Ikeme open to Wolves return

Former Nigeria international Carl Ikeme has revealed his desire to return to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a coaching or mentoring capacity.
The goalkeeper, who spent his entire career with Wolves since joining the side at the age of 14, was forced to an early retirement last year due to his battle with leukemia.
However, after intense treatment, Ikeme was told he is in ‘complete remission’ from the disease and has spoken of his desire to return to his childhood club soon.

FCT women receive empowerment materials from WPUGI

As NGO marks 1st anniversary

Women in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have received empowerment materials from a nonprofit making organization, Women for Peace and Unity Growth Initiative, WPUGI, to boost their standard of living.
The items which include grinding machines and accessories, sewing machines and accessories, coolers, cash, and others were presented to the women of Dakin-Biu community in Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Abuja, by the Founder and Convener, WPUGI, Yemisi George.

OPEC November oil output slips before Aramco IPO, policy meeting

OPEC oil output has fallen in November as Angolan production has slipped due to maintenance and Saudi Arabia has kept a lid on supply to support the market before the initial public offering (IPO) of state-owned Saudi Aramco, a Reuters survey found.
On average, the 14-member Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries has pumped 29.57 million barrels per day (bpd) this month, according to the survey. That is down 110,000 bpd from October’s revised figure.

Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku has described news making the rounds that he is sponsoring the impeachment of principal officers of the state House of Assembly, as a wicked scheme to malign his relationship with the state legislature.
Ishaku in a statement by his senior special assistant on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, on Saturday, described the allegations as unsigned fake news story containing rumours.
The report which the state government is refuting had claimed the governor committed N200 million of public funds to perfect the impeachment of the Speaker, Abel Peter Diah.

Sunbathers join rescue as migrant boat washes up on Canary Islands beach

 

Sunbathers in the Canary Islands joined forces with emergency workers to give water, food and clothes to migrants who arrived unexpectedly on a beach in the Spanish archipelago on Friday.
Some two dozen migrants, among them three infants and one pregnant woman, landed in a rickety boat on the rocky shores of the Aguila beach, Gran Canaria.

Exhausted, cold and some seemingly in a state of shock after weathering the Atlantic, they were given thermal blankets, food and water by rescue workers.

Babcock graduate, Abiru, emerges overall best at 2019 Law School Bar Exams

A Babcock University graduate of Law, Mayowa Mubashir Abiru, has emerged Nigeria’s overall best at the 2019 Law School Bar Exams.
In a statement by the Director of Communication & Marketing, Joshua Suleiman, Abiru, who graduated with a Second Class Upper credit from Babcock, is one of the 10 BU alumni with a first-class grade at the Bar exams.
Also, Babcock University ranked third among universities that produced the highest number of students with First Class at the Law School Bar Exams this year.
