NECO : Ogun cancels November sanitation exercise

The Ogun State government has cancelled the monthly sanitation exercise for November, 2019, in the State.
The government said it has also lifted restriction of movement order. This, the State government said would enable secondary school students across the state to take part in the on-going National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
In a statement by Kunle Somorin, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun while giving the approval said the decision was arrived at after reviewing the challenges that the restriction of movement order would have on the Mathematics paper in the NECO exams schedule for Saturday and which coincides with the timing of the monthly sanitation exercise.

Appeal Court validates Lalong’s election
The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday affirmed the victory of Governor Simon Lalong in the state governorship election held on March 9.
The court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Jeremiah Useni, challenging the governor’s victory in the election for lack of merit.

The state election petitions tribunal had also validated Lalong’s victory over the petitioners’ inability to prove their allegation of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and votes manipulation against the respondents.`
Listed as respondents in the case were Lalong, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Britain will leave EU by January 31 – Boris Johnson
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday said that Britain would leave the EU by Jan. 31 at the latest if his Conservative Party wins a majority in the election in two weeks’ time.
“If we can get a working majority then we will come on Jan. 31 at the absolute latest,” Johnson said.

He also repeated his message that he saw no reason why Britain would need to extend the transition period after Brexit beyond the end of 2020.

Hit and run driver kills two vigilante operatives in Anambra, guns removed

Two members of Obosi Central Vigilante Group in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State yesterday lost their lives and their two pump action rifles taken away when suspected hoodlums hit them with their car at their duty post and fled after collecting their guns.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident said the victims, Chibuzor Nwobodo and Chidebe Ohaeri were working at Oduzor along Obosi –Nkpor road when the incident happened.

Dickson attributes eight years in office to divine intervention

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson has attributed the landmark achievement of being the first governor to successfully complete a second term in office to divine intervention.
Dickson stated this when the set of 1992 Rivers State University of Science and Technology Law students paid him a solidarity visit in Yenagoa
The governor added that but for God’s intervention, he would not have been able to break the jinx to be the first governor to do a straight two-term in office.

Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, has said that opposition political parties in the state were not foes to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but competitors seeking the development of the state through alternative means.
He stated this while declaring open a one-day summit on “The need for synergy between a ruling party and opposition parties in a democracy,” organized by the Office of the Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Hon Solomon Funkekeme, at Asaba, capital of the state.

Anambra acquires land for honey production, export — ADP Manager
The Anambra Government has procured over five hectares of farmland at Igbariam in Anambra East Local Government Area for Bee Plantation and Mass Production of honey for export.
Mr. Jude Nwankwo, Programme Manager, Anambra Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Awka.
Nwankwo said the government hoped to create employment opportunities for the youth besides the economic benefits.

Court annuls sack of FUOYE’s Lecturer, orders immediate reinstatement

Ado Ekiti-The National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), has annulled the sack of Prof. Adeyemi Oluwagbemiga of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), by the management of the university.
A copy of the judgement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the Court ordered immediate reinstatement of the lecturer in the Department of Demography and Social Statistics back to the service and that all payments due for him must be effected.

South Africa court rejects Zuma appeal to prevent corruption trial
A South African court on Friday rejected an appeal by former President Jacob Zuma that sought to prevent his prosecution on corruption charges over a 2 billion dollars arms deal.
The ruling paves the way for Zuma’s long-awaited trial to start in Feb. 2020. Zuma, in office from 2009 to 2018, had previously applied for a permanent stay of prosecution on 18 charges of fraud, racketeering and money laundering relating to an arms deal with French defense firm Thales in the 1990s.
