Unai Emery, head coach of Arsenal and his coaching staff have been fired by the board after a string of poor performances that has seen the North London club struggle to impress and find themselves in 8th place in the Premier League.
A statement released on the Arsenal website read:

Breaking: Arsenal part ways with Unai Emery

Arsenal have sacked Unai Emery from his position as head coach of the club after a little under two seasons in charge and appointed club legend Freddie Ljungberg to lead the club on an interim basis.
The sack follows a poor run of form that has Arsenal sitting in the 8th position on the Premier League table and failing to record a win in their last seven matches.

Adamawa United will bounce back from Enyimba defeat, promises Bello
Adamawa United head coach, Mohammed Bello is optimistic that the team will return to winning ways after their 2-0 loss to eight-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba International in Aba on Matchday 5.
Bello spoke in an interview with NPFL.ng and insisted that despite the loss to Enyimba, his players showed resilience in the second half of that encounter.

“My players played better in the second half, as Enyimba dominated the first half,” Bello said.

Europa League: Emery reaches breaking point as Arsenal lose at home

Unai Emery’s future as Arsenal coach was plunged into further doubt on Thursday when the Gunners slumped to a 2-1 loss in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arsenal are now winless in seven games, the club’s worst run since 1992.
Japan midfielder Daichi Kamada’s second-half double for the Germans came after captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had opened the scoring in first half injury time for Arsenal inside a half-full Emirates Stadium.

Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini was hit by coins as the Italian club kept their Europa League last 32 hopes alive with a 3-0 victory at Istanbul Basaksehir on Thursday as Kazakh champions Astana fought back to surprise a youthful Manchester United 2-1.
Attacking midfielder Pellegrini had his head bandaged after he was struck by multiple coins with an hour of the game played after Jordan Veretout, Justin Kluivert and Edin Dzeko had claimed the advantage for the Serie A outfit in Turkey.

NSSF: Joseph emerges first female President

Olabisi Joseph has emerged as the first female President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) at the election held at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Joseph who was the Secretary in the immediate past executive won unopposed.
Joseph in her victory speech expressed gratitude to the NSSF family for the support and cooperation of member states.

Ibrahimovic files ‘hate crime’ complaint after house and statue vandalised
Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic Thursday filed a “hate crime” complaint Thursday after being the target of vandalism and racists threats, police said, a day after the star announced his part ownership in football club Hammarby.
A statue of the player in Malmo was attacked with fire and paint while the word “Judas” was daubed across the front door of his residence in Stockholm.
The perpetrators of the threatening acts have not been identified but “Ibra” angered fans of Malmo FF (MFF) — the club where he started his professional career in 1999 — on Wednesday when he announced he had bought a share in rival club Hammarby.

Pim Verbeek: Former Socceroos coach dies aged 63
Pim Verbeek, the man who guided Australia to the 2010 World Cup, has died from cancer at the age of 63, the Dutch media reported on Thursday.
Verbeek, who spent his entire professional playing career at Sparta Rotterdam before retiring when he was 25, also managed the South Korean and Oman national teams and was assistant coach of the Koreans at the 2002, when they reached the semi-finals, and 2006 World Cups.

The Liverpool Football Club manager, Jurgen Klopp has clinched the first place in the best club coach ranking 2019 after finishing second in the last year’s list.
The Premier League side’s head coach and “Gegenpressing” pundit was ranked number one in the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) World’s Best Club Coach 2019 list.
