Sixty-two Chairmen of Nigeria Political Parties under the aegis of Forum of Chairmen of Nigeria Political Parties on Monday Indicted security agents and politicians over the violence and other electoral fraud that took place in the just concluded Bayelsa/Kogi states gubernatorial elections.
The forum, after a review of the conduct of the elections in the two states, has however absolved the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from the crisis.

Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria ERA/FoEN has said Federal Government was taking too long to gazette the National Tobacco Control Regulations following the passage of the National Tobacco Control, NTC, Act 2019 by the National Assembly in May.

Ginger Association boss cautions members against sharp practices
The National Ginger Association of Nigeria (NGAN) has urged members to guard against sharp practices that can affect the commercial value of their produce negatively in the local and international markets.
Mr. Haruna Azeez, Chairman, Board of Trustees of NGAN, made the appeal shortly after the election of the association’s Executive Committee in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.
He decried certain practices, such as lack of proper cleaning and treatment, stuffing sand and mud in sacks of ginger by some farmers to increase the weight.

MaxAir commences flight operations to Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Monday, flagged off the commencement of daily commercial flights by MaxAir Transport Company to the state.
Speaking at the occasion held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, the governor expressed confidence that the development would bring an end to the air transportation problem in the state.
He expressed optimism that Bauchi State would witness an unprecedented boost in commerce and tourism sectors especially with the discovery of oil in Alkaleri local government area of the state.

Ex-Niger Delta militants protest over non-payment of allowances
The Niger Delta ex-militants are currently protesting in Presidential Amnesty office in Port Harcourt over an alleged non-payment of allowance from the government.
The ex-fighters, who are undergoing training in manufacturing and repairs of electric transformers, said they had not been paid their allowances since August.
They were seen carrying placard at 10am on Monday, chanting war and solidarity songs.

Foundation sensitises e-waste handlers on safe management
An NGO, E-waste Relief Foundation (ERF) has called on e-waste handlers to practice safe e-waste management to avoid any harm to man and its environment.
The ERF President, Dr. Ifeanyi Ochonogor, made the call in Lagos on Monday.
Ochonogor said that there had been consistent mismanagement of e-waste by the informal sector, thereby causing harm to man and the ecosystem.

He said that for much harm to be averted, there was a need for sensitisation and education of the informal sector by e-waste management experts.

Pope meets Japan’s ‘triple disaster’ victims
Pope Francis met victims of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident, which he calls Japan’s “triple disaster,” in Tokyo on Monday as he raised doubts about the use of nuclear power.
The 82-year-old Argentinian pope, who arrived in Japan on Saturday for a four-day visit, listened to the accounts of three survivors of the disaster.
One of the survivors was Matsuki Kamoshita, a high school student who had to leave their home in the city of Iwaki, just south of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station “to escape radiation” following the disaster.

Italy grants access to Spanish migrant rescue ship
Italian authorities have agreed to grant the Open Arms ship access to a port to disembark 62 African migrants it has been carrying since Wednesday, the founder of the Spanish rescue mission said on Sunday.
Oscar Camps said the vessel is set to dock at the southern Italian port of Taranto on Tuesday afternoon, although the eventual destination may change.
Italy initially refused entry for the group of 73 African migrants which the Open Arms crew plucked out of a packed rubber dinghy drifting about 50 miles off Libya, suggesting that the vessel should instead put them ashore at Tripoli.
