SUSPECTED sea pirates, weekend, raided Opurudiegbene, a riverine Ijaw community in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, defiled several women at gunpoint, broke into homes, shops, looted properties and money.
Three children were missing, according to community sources, after the audacious rampage by the gun-totting hooligans, who struck at about 10.00 pm last Friday night.
Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Mr. Adeleke Adeyinka, told Vanguard when contacted, Saturday afternoon, “There have been rivalries on the waterways but we never heard that they raped women.”

EFCC: Court sentences two brothers to one year imprisonment for fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal office has secured the conviction of two brothers, Wisdom Onojiolou and Omorodion Onojiolou before Justice M.G Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State on a two-count charge of intent to defraud and obtaining under false pretence
The duo fraudulently obtained the sum of Fifteen Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira ( N15,400,000.00) from one Philian Uwadiae under the pretence of helping her to establish a business in Benin.

NIS arrests human trafficker with 5 female victims
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) says it has arrested a suspected human trafficker with five female victims en route Niger Republic to Europe.
The Comptroller General, NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede, disclosed this in a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, on Saturday in Abuja.
He added that the arrest was made by the operatives at Kongolam border, Katsina State.
Babandede reiterated that days of crossing National frontiers without proper documentation and melting into border communities was over, as the Special Border Corps (SBC) and regular border control officers were on their toes 24/7.

Chairman of Air Peace airline, Chief Allen Onyema has denied fraud and money laundering charges against him by the United States of America government.
The Northern District of Georgia Attorney charged the chairman with bank fraud and money laundering for moving more than $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes.

Also charged with bank fraud and committing aggravated identity theft in connection with the scheme is Ejiroghene Eghagha, the airline’s chief of Administration and Finance.

Auto Accident: One died, nine injured in Anambra
One person died on Saturday, while nine others sustained injuries in a fatal accident involving two buses in Anambra.
Mr Andrew Kumapayi, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra Command, who confirmed the death said 10 persons were involved in the accident.
Kumapayi said the accident occurred when an Onitsha bound bus fully laden with pepper wrongfully overtook a vehicle and rammed into another bus that was Awka bound in a head-on collision.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu made this known during a meeting with various security/traffic agencies at the Police Command Headquarters, GRA, Ikeja.

Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) says no African country is silent on racism and xenophobia, as all nations on the continent condemned such actions.
He said this in a special interview with NAN in Abuja, during his first official visit to the country as President of the General Assembly.
He affirmed that racism, xenophobia and resurgent nationalism and tendencies toward protectionism in Africa and other parts of the world were threats to multilateralism.
