After some commentators on Social Media trolls made a jest of a Nigerian woman who discovered over N40m on different occasions at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport and returned same, a Nigerian drew the attention of the Presidency to her case and proposed a national recognition and award to honour her and encourage Nigerians to be honest.
That proposal eventually became a reality Tuesday morning at the Presidential Villa when President Muhammadu Buhari presented the Integrity Award to Mrs Jospehine Ugwu alongside another Nigerian man, a Customs officer, Bashir Abubakar who had rejected a 412,000 dollars (N150 million) bribe offered to him by drug traffickers to import 40 containers laden with Tramadol, a controlled and highly addictive drug.

Police arrest illegal arms fabricator in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 63- year-old man for alleged illegal fabrication of firearms.

The suspect was arrested in Tagwash Village, Richa in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Isaac Akinmoyede, disclosed this on Thursday in Jos.
Akinmoyede said that the suspect’s arrest followed activities of Operation Safe Havens, the outfit charged with maintaining peace in Plateau.

Customs seizes N43m smuggled goods within one week in Kaduna

The Zone B of Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Kaduna, on Thursday said it seized smuggled goods valued at over N43 million within one week in the zone.
The Comptroller of the command, Mustafa Sarkin-Kebbi said among the items seized was a truck intercepted along Kebbi-Kalgo road carrying foreign parboiled rice concealed with footwears in one hundred kilogram bags.

Sarkin-Kebbi, who made the disclosure at a press briefing in Kaduna, also said 25 vehicles were intercepted within the period, as well as 703 bags of smuggled foreign rice, 500 Jerry can of vegetable oil and 245 cartons of spaghetti.

Oshiomhole commends Gbajabimilla on passage of Deep Offshore bill

?National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole last night hailed the commitment and patriotism of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on the passage of Petroleum Sharing contract and deep offshore bill recently passed into law by the National Assembly.
He also commended the House on the speed with members were working on the 2020 budget to ensure its early passage.
A statement from the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi stated that Oshiomhole made the commendation when he led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to thank the Speaker and his colleagues for their good work since inauguration in June at the national assembly on Thursday.
