The Catholic Church has launched an investigation after two missionary nuns became pregnant while working in Africa.
The two women, who belonged to separate religious orders in Sicily, are expecting children despite their vows of chastity.

Osinbajo has not been relegated to the background – Presidency

THE Presidency on Wednesday defended President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure to inform the National Assembly about his intention to travel to the United Kingdom on a two-week private visit.
Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution provides for the President to transmit letters to the National Assembly about his intention to travel abroad and official handing over to the Vice President.
It reads: “Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.”
But addressing journalists in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senate, Senator Babajide Omoworare said the non- transmission of the letter to the National Assembly did not in any way connote that the office of the Vice President has been relegated to the background.

A star witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs. Mairo Bashir, on Wednesday, told the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that she opened 12 bank accounts for the former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina and his family members.
Bashir, who identified herself as a Business Manager at the Maitama branch of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, in Abuja, told the court that the former pension boss deposited N3billion with the bank in 2011, saying the money was transferred from Police Pension Funds.

Allow NDDC interim board complete mandate, Ogoni urges Niger Delta groups, Senate

The Conscience of Ogoni People, COOP, has urged groups in the Niger Delta that have been in protest over the inauguration of the interim board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, led by Joy Nunieh to allow the board complete the mandate given it by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godspwill Akpabio and President Muhammadu Buhari.
COOP also urged the Nigerian Senate not to allow the 15 committees it screened to take over the management of the NDDC until the forensic audit is completed.

Governor Nyesom Wike has prayed Federal Government (FG) to forgive Rivers state people for any wrong they did to warrant perceived federal neglect currently being suffered by the state.
Wike spoke on Tuesday in Port Harcourt during maiden delivery of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to downstream investor, Stockgap Terminal by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Bonny.
Highlighting some the vexed issues of federal neglect, the Governor said, “Because it’s Rivers, FG has refused funding the Bodo-Bonny Highway even when NLNG has agreed to borne 50% of the (N120Billion) project cost.
