Court orders forfeiture of N6.42bn properties belonging to Diezani’s ally, Kola Aluko

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has Tuesday ordered temporary forfeiture of some landed properties belonging to Kola Aluko, an ally of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke by EFCC.
Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Lagos gave the order following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, through its counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo.
The properties were reported by EFCC to be worth N6.42bn and are located on Plots 3389 and 3390, House 2, Margaret Thatcher Close, Asokoro Cadastral Zone, Abuja as well as Avenue Towers, Plot 1391, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Kroos scores as Real Madrid edge Galatasaray in narrow win

Toni Kroos’ deflected first-half strike was enough to secure Real Madrid a 1-0 win at Galatasaray, giving Los Blancos their first Champions League victory of the season.

Despite being without Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, Madrid produced a professional display against a Galatasaray team that put up a fight but were ultimately made to rue a lack of quality in the final third.
Madrid were greeted by a banner that read ‘your nightmare is back again’ and the home side certainly caused them some problems, but Lady Luck smiled on Zinedine Zidane’s men as Kroos opened the scoring with a deflected strike on his 100th Champions League appearance.

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane combined to ease Tottenham’s troubles by scoring twice each in a 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade and put their Champions League campaign back on track on Tuesday.

China telecom operators build 80,000 5G base stations in 4 months

Three China’s major telecom operators have been revealed to have built more than 80,000 5G base stations in four months.

The recorded first quarter of the year’s development was reported as a contributing action to the country’s mission to improve its infrastructure development of the super-fast wireless technology.
The telecom sector’s business volume expanded 23.9 per cent year on year during the January-September period, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed, according to Xinhua report.

Nigeria ranks world capital of oil theft, records 400,000 bpd crude theft

It has been revealed by Natural Resource Charter (NNRC) that Nigeria is the highest ever reported crude oil theft country in the world, with the country recording approximately 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) crude theft.

The NNRC report, which was an aftermath of a survey on oil theft in the world, also said that Mexico came second with approximately 5,000 to 10,000 bpd loss to oil theft.
Speaking in Lagos at a workshop with media professionals and members of the civil society organisations on reducing oil theft, a researcher, Niyi Awodeyin, said the report showed that Nigeria’s loses around 10 per cent of its annual budget to crude oil theft.

Niger State: Bida-Minna road to be closed for heavy-duty vehicles

The Niger State government has announced it will be banning heavy-duty vehicles on the Bida-Minna road starting November.
The development was reported by NTA on Tuesday.
According to the report. “Niger State Government hereby inform members of the public that as from FIRST NOVEMBER 2019, BIDA-MINNA road will be closed for all HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES to allow the State Government to undertake a major rehabilitation on the road.
“Only Articulated Vehicles conveying goods with waybill indicating Minna, the state Capital as the final destination will be given entry permit.
