Edo govt commiserates with Ehor village accident victims’ families

The Edo State Government has commiserated with the families of the seven victims of the accident involving the advance Protocol Team of the Governor at Ehor Village, on the outskirts of Benin City, the Edo State capital.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, conveyed the state government’s condolences to the victims and their families.
He said, “We have confirmed from the Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) details of the accident involving the advance team of the Governor’s Protocol team.

Super Eagles beat Togo but won’t be going to CHAN 2020

The home-based Super Eagles will now miss out of the party at the CHAN 2020 in Cameroon in spite of a 2-0 win against Togo at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

The Nigerian side put on a spirited effort to overturn the 1-4 first leg deficit, but they failed and thus lost 3-4 aggregate.
The Eagles had to ring seven changes from the players who featured in Lome and were soon rewarded with two goals, courtesy Sikiru Alimi’s brace in the 4th and 66th minutes.

Gov. El-Rufai led operation to evacuate 147 inmates at Kaduna Rehab centre

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the raid on another rehabilitation centre in Kaduna, where 147 inmates mostly in shackles were found. According to the Kaduna police, Gov. Nasir  El-Rufa’i led the operation at the centre which had male and female inmates.

Presidency clarifies report on Cash Transfer Initiative, says 620,947, not 6.6m benefiting

Mrs Maryam Uwais, Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, says 620, 947 poor and vulnerable Nigerians are benefiting from the National Cash Transfer initiative.
Uwais, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said that reports claiming that 6.6 million poor and vulnerable Nigerians were benefiting from the scheme were “not correct”.
Media reports had quoted the Presidential aide as saying that 6.6 million people were being paid the N5,000 monthly stipend (Cash Transfer Initiative).

Lagos Commissioner alerts residents over suspected monkey pox outbreak

Lagos State Government, Friday, stressed the need by residents to take precautionary measures in order to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases such as Monkey pox which was recently reported in the state.

It therefore, reiterated the need for citizens to ensure and maintain adequate personal and environmental hygiene at all times.
Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi stated this during the biosecurity update meeting on the situation report of Monkey Pox disease in the state.
