Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that about $1.2bn worth of fish is imported into the country annually.
Emefiele disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday while briefing some state governors on the feat recorded so far in agriculture for economic growth.
He explained that current fish production stood at 0.8 million tons while the demand was 2.7 million tons, giving a deficit of 1.9 million tons.
He said the apex bank’s current initiative was to engage the coastal state governors to develop the blue economy to address the deficit of 1.9metric tons as well as eradicate the huge import bill for fish.
According to him, this is a very huge economic opportunity for the states to create an enabling environment for investors.

target=_blank>Dear Nigerian Youth, Leave Bobrisky Alone And Face National Issues By Sodiq Zainab

Before I express my views, I would like to make it clear that I’m not writing this in support of Idris Okuneye widely known as Bobrisky, neither am I condemning him. However, I am expressing my disappointment at the National Youth Council of Nigeria and their decision to stage a protest against Bobrisky.
A trending video of the group on the Internet asking the government to stop the crossdresser from acting like a female and even demanding that nothing about him is heard again, is something I consider offensive and unacceptable.
How can the National Youth Council of Nigeria call on government to act over Bobrisky and his activities and not call on the Inspector-General of Police and the National Assembly to stop insecurity, kidnapping, Boko haram activities and several other issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.
As far as I am concerned, this is an indication that majority of youths in Nigeria have their priorities misplaced. This situation leaves me wondering if victims of xenophobia, unemployment, bad infrastructure, kidnapped citizens aren’t our brothers and sisters, and therefore don’t deserve solidarity from these bunch of youths.
In other developed climes, young people don’t engage in such baseless acts, they take their leaders on more important issues that affect the generality of the people.
In the said video of members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria making the rounds on the Internet, leader of the protesters used the expression “With the support of all Nigerian Youth”. This caught my attention and left me asking who the youths, who gave them the support to protest against Bobrisky were. Why they found no reason to call upon President Muhammadu Buhari to address the poor state of governance in the country?
Dear Nigerian youth, please next time you consider calling on the government to act over any matters, kindly ensure that they are issues that affect the entire populace like the lack of basic amenities, infrastructure and rising insecurity in the country.

E2%80%99s-suit-demands-n50m target=_blank>Fatoyinbo Asks Court To Dismiss Busola Dakolo’s Suit, Demands N50m

Senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit filed by Busola Dakola, wife of musician, Timi.
In an application filed through his lawyers, the clergyman demanded N50m as damages.
According to the application, Fatoyinbo called for the dismissal of the suit on the grounds that it is incompetent and frivolous.
This comes about two weeks after Dakolo demanded that the pastor apologises for allegedly defiling her.
In a writ filed on her behalf by her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi and Co, Dakolo demanded that Fatoyinbo pens a clearly worded apology on the front page of at least two national newspapers and two national television stations for seven days running consecutively.
She also demanded that the COZA pastor addresses a ‘personal apology letter’ showing honest remorse for his misdeed.
Dakolo had told the court that the sexual assault on her by Fatoyinbo had adversely affected her marital s** life.
She also demanded that N10m be paid by the pastor as cost of action.
Earlier in her suit, Dakolo claimed that Fatoyinbo “forcefully pushed her unto a couch close to the front door of her house, undressed her, caressed her body, fondled her breasts, exposed his genitals to her glare, forcing a bottle of soda (Krest) down her throat thereby making her breathing difficult.”
She claimed that by covering her mouth to muffle her screams, Fatoyinbo threatened her life on September 23, 2002.
According to her, these actions “both jointly and/or severally are outrageous and reckless and have caused her emotional distress” amounting to intentional infliction of emotional distress on her.
Dakolo further stated that on another occasion on September 26, 2002, Fatoyinbo drove her in a car to a secluded area, forcefully pulled her out of the car, undressed her, spanked her buttocks, threatened her life, caressed her body, fondled her breasts and exposed his genitals to her glare.
She described the sexual intercourse the clergyman allegedly had with her on both days, jointly and/or severally as outrageous and reckless and amounts to intentional infliction of distress on her.

Twitter Deactivates 4000 Accounts Over Fake News

Social media platform, Twitter, has deactivated over 4,000 accounts suspected to be spreading fake news in a bid to change people’s opinion.
The platform made this known on Friday, saying that the accounts were used as pro-government propaganda channels.
The deactivated accounts were operated from places like the United Arab Emirates, China, and Spain.
Accounts coming from China seeking to sow discord among protesters in Hong Kong were closed down, as were accounts amplifying a pro-Saudi message coming from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates directed at Qatar and Yemen, Twitter said.
Fake news accounts were also suspended in Spain and Ecuador.
The information released is part of the company’s push to improve understanding of how its platform is used by state actors to manipulate public opinion.
Twitter said they had identified 4,302 accounts based in China “attempting to sow discord about the protest movement in Hong Kong”.
This follows the identification in August of more than 200,000 fake accounts in China engaged in fuelling public discord in Hong Kong.
The announcement follows Facebook’s removal of fake accounts based in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE last month for posting misinformation about regional hotspots including Libya, Sudan and Yemen.
