The Central Bank of Nigeria on Sunday admitted the audio conversation between governor of the central bank, Godwin Emefiele, deputy governor, Edward Adamu, director of finance Dayo Arowosegbe and special adviser to the governor, Emmanuel Ukeji while they where discussing how to cover up N500 billion Naira which they had invested in a private business that ran aground.

Confirming the audio, the CBN in a press statement on Sunday signed by Issac Okorafor, director corporate communications said the “In closing the Bank’s 2018 accounts, external auditors in their Draft Account, erroneously classified about N150 billion of these loans as bad, which negatively affected the Bank’s Balance Sheet and shareholders fund. The selective conversation being circulated was simply a discussion to ascertain why the auditors took that position and next steps to resolving it. Obviously, it soon became clear that a State Government loan cannot be classified as “bad” or “irrecoverable” when the State still exists and getting FAAC allocations. The Bank then reached out to the Federal Ministry of Finance and they jointly gave comfort to the auditors who accepted in writing that these monies would be repaid. On this basis, the auditors reversed the negative entry and the certified that the CBN’s 2018 accounts were a true reflection of the State of Affairs. Reconciliation of Balance Sheet items are regular conversations amongst Senior Management of many agencies and should not be misconstrued as anything but that”.
The admittance is coming after an exclusive audio posted by SaharaReporters which detailed shady transactions of the governor of the CBN with a Dubai based company which later went awry.
Contary to claims by the CBN that N150 billion was a classification error by auditors as “bad loans” in the audio, Emefiele is clearly heard saying “i am not too happy that Arowosegbe led us like this, in fact, that was what i was asking, i said we have an impression that we had 500 billion, he said no…where are we going to find this? Now we are in a very bad situation. The implication for the economy is a no, no, no” he lamented.

target=_blank>Nigeria Labour Congress To Protest At Ngige’s Office Today
Barely few days after an attack by thugs suspected to have been sent by the minister of labour and productivity, Chris Ngige on protesting members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the union has vowed to stage a comeback against the minister on Monday.
A circular sent to all the affiliated unions, signed by the President of NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba and obtained by our SaharaReporters said that the organised labour would picket the office of Ngige for undermining and disparaging the collective sensibilities of Nigerian workers.
The NLC accused Ngige of organising his political bandits to attack Nigerian workers when his resident in Abuja was picketed last week.
Wabba alleged that Ngige had been scheming relentlessly to push Comrade Frank Kokori out of office as the Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund ( NSITF) by refusing to inaugurate the board with Kokori as head.
The circular added: “This is brazen continuation of Ngige’s antics and machinations against the common interest of the Nigerian workers, which obviously played out with his subversive and divisive tendencies all throughout the negotiation period for a new minimum wage.
“Tomorrow will go down in history that there was once a Minister of Labour that was picketed out of office and circulation.”
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) on assumption of duty in 2018 had singled out Ngige and the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika for refusing to inaugurate board of directors despite their nomination and approval by President Muhammadu Buhari.
At a point, Oshiomhole threatened to sanction the two ministers, but despite the threat, none of the duo had inaugurated the board of directors in their various ministries.

target=_blank>Emir Sanusi II Returns To Hero’s Welcome In Kano After London Trip
A tense atmosphere on Sunday enveloped the northern Nigerian city of Kano, as supporters of Emir Lamido Sanusi trooped to the airport to welcome their beleaguered traditional ruler.Hundreds of Kano residents matched towards the airport on Sunday afternoon in a solidarity demonstration for Mr Sanusi, whose emirate was divided into five by the state government during the week.Rumours have also spread that supporters of Mr Sanusi were bracing for a clash with pro-government sympathisers in downtown Kano. The police have also been accused of attempting to prevent a large crowd from receiving the former governor of Central Bank.Premium times report Mohammed Wakili, the comissioner of police did not order a restriction on protesters, so long as they conduct their activities peacefully.Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday signed an amendment to the state’s traditional ruler and chieftaincy laws. The amendment established an additional four emirates to the ancient Kano Emirate. The law has been widely deemed controversial, amidst insinuations Mr Ganduje initiated it to settle scores with Mr Sanusi in an alleged feud between both of them. The governor denied all allegations of vindictiveness, saying he took the steps to streamline traditional roles and make them more efficient. On Friday, the Kano State High Court granted a temporary order for the suspension of the law, following complaints from Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers that the House of Assembly shunned extant parliamentary procedures to ram the bill through.

target=_blank>UNILAG Management Crisis; When Heads Are Meant To Carry loads Only By Femi Adeyeye
I am confident that the Nigerian mind is speaking already through someone at the sight of the headline of this article that ‘this guy does not want to graduate’. “Isn’t this the same student activist who was suspended for 4 Semesters for protesting and writing articles?
Wasn’t he the same person who was framed and charged before a kangaroo Court and was incarcerated at KiriKiri Prisons for protesting for the reinstatement of a visually-impaired student? It seems he likes to suffer.” All these assertions may be correct.
But maybe graduating means something else to some of us. It means transiting from a level of unconsciousness to a level of consciousness till you hit the highest level. What School should do but intentionally it is not doing.
I have decided to wade into the recent imbroglio at the University of Lagos and share my thoughts unbiased, relating to some articles I have seen online and press statements even from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
I wasn’t surprised at all when an article titled THE REAL REASONS BEHIND BABALAKIN’S QUERIES TO UNILAG MANAGEMENT was circulated on social media with the allegation therein. Anyone following political happenings diligently in the Country would know Dr Wale Babalakin’s penchant for probity anywhere he goes. He looks into the books.
Babalakinism is a term which means looking into books of account brilliantly, for that matter to fish out what should be stolen. The allegations of abuse of office against him however cannot in any measure erase the allegations of alleged corrupt practices of the Management- some of which I and other conscious minds have raised in the past.
The Sports Centre 36 million naira that went down the drain under the ‘directorship’ of Cecilia Arinye and a new rumoured allegation of 40 million naira allotted to renovate Dr Folashade Ipaye’s house remain carpeted till this moment. That it (40 million naira) could even be worthy to be a rumour in a University is unfounding because Donald Trump, a ‘whole’ President of the United States spends 10 million dollars annually on renovation.
My source at the Senate told me immediately the issue started that it was a case of ‘misappropriation not going round’. Sad.
This is what you get when people who if managing a poultry, would make sure eggs are stolen, are given a University to manage.
It is rather unfortunate that we have accepted the sad reality that relegates our ‘scholars’ to chasers of political appointments- people who are ready to lick butts to be made Special Assistants, VCs and even Hall Masters.
This is the reality here while elsewhere Professors are busy in the libraries and research centres trying to save the World. How do you expect a Professor who has received 30 million dollars in grants from Ford to be hustling to be a Vice-Chancellor or a Hall Master so he can start allocating bed spaces to his retinue of girlfriends? He is busy of course.
But right here, it is the best thing that can happen to a Professor. He would celebrate God’s faithfulness as he now has unfettered access to public funds. Something urgently must be done to re-engineer this system to the end of making scholarship about value-delivery and not favour-sharing.
It is to this end, I would, as an act of benevolence want to proffer three solutions to these shameful and unfortunate events displayed by the power-brokers at the University:
There is an urgent need for the resources of the University to come under democratic control and management which should also involve students. It is highly unreasonable how the major constituents of a Community are not part of decision making; decisions that affect their well-being and the quality of what they offer the World in the future of work. Do you know that the University of Lagos like most Universities have failed to establish a fully constituted Budget Monitoring Committee involving key stakeholders? Despite an agreement signed between ASUU and the Federal Government as far back as 2013 to check the spending of resources. It provides for students to be members of the University Budget Monitoring Committee (UBMC). This would bring about the much-talked-about probity and accountability by both parties. This is therefore a call for students to begin to organize towards enthroning a radical student leadership on that Campus.
That each aggrieved party should report any of their findings to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) as the case may be. This would do the University a lot of good. Rather than taking the fight to social media, employing propagandists who rant without mentioning names and putting the allegations straight. This, they should do before we do.
That to bring about peace as I am known for, all alleged members both in the Senate and Governing Council should sheathe their swords, apologize to one another, reach out to the students too because they deserve an explanation. These managers should then come together, sum up their intellection if there is any left, to chronicle the events that have taken place under the ‘reign’ of two Vice-Chancellors (at least the ones I know) and title the book- HOW NOT TO RUN A UNIVERSITY. This would prevent reccurence and even their reincarnation. I may assist with the editing and publishing for free.

target=_blank>NDLEA Storm Sambisa, Arrest 52-Man Drug Gang
A joint operation of security agencies, including National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Saturday, stormed semi-Sambisa, a den of criminal gan in Yola, and arrested fifty two drug peddlers.
Yakubu Kibo, Adamawa State NDLEA Commander, confirmed the arrest and paraded the suspects Sunday afternoon, saying, “a joint operation comprising NDLEA, Army, Police and NSCDC stormed the notorious semi Sambisa hideout on Saturday for the operation”.
“We apprehended them with various substances of abuse, like cannabis sativa, tramadol, rubber solution, etc.
“As you see on display, we have also recovered from them all sort of dangerous weapons, including a toy pistol.
“We’re not stopping at this, because we’re currently trailing major dealers, and we’ll make them to face the full wrath of the law”, Kibo said.
The Yola Sambisa is located on the vast farmland of lake Gerio on the banks of river Benue, and is home to various criminal gangs.
A notorious robbery gang, ‘Shila boys’, who are terrorising Yola, the state capital and environs, also operate from the same Sambisa.
Shila boys are notorious for phone and bag snatching, just as they feign as operators of commercial tricycle, also known as Keke Napep in local parlance, to lure unsuspecting victims.

target=_blank>Thinking With You… President Buhari’s Second Term: Invitation To Disintegration By Bayo Oluwasanmi
Bayo Oluwasanmi
Bayo Oluwasanmi
In January 2012, the BBC asked in a trenchant report, “Is Nigeria on the brink?” But today, the question that should be asked by Nigerians with modicum of common sense should be “When will Nigeria break up?” Buhari’s second term kicks off officially May 29. But a carryover anarchy from his first term provides the necessary ingredients and of course invitation to Nigeria’s disintegration. There’s no hope for the three separate, hostile, and unequal regions forcibly fused together by the Brits to exit as one nation. Majority of Nigerians believe the best and lasting solution after 58 years of crises, violence, insecurity, poverty, and blind leadership is for Yorubas, Igbos, and Hausa-Fulanis to go their separate ways.
Let the words sink in. Nigeria is coming apart. 180 million people are without regular and steady power. No roads. No treated water. Hunger is prevalent. Food is scarce and expensive. Salaries not paid. Ritual killings for money. Unemployment, poverty, delayed and denied justice, corruption, nepotism, kidnapping, abduction, armed robbery, failed education system, comatose healthcare system, insecurity, hopelessness, fear of tomorrow, and many more, are the trademarks of Buhari administration that will hasten the break up of Nigeria before 2023.
Deafening silence from the ruling class of defiant rogues, looters, thieves, plunderers, wreckers, leeches, and parasites, has reached its crescendo. Despair is slowly uniting Mumu citizens against their oppressors as they comfort each other. Thinking about Nigeria is suicidal. How can one fully express in graphic words that could convey in any way, the overwhelming sense of constant pain, horrible uncertainty, fear of tomorrow, fury of wasted lives through epidemic of manufactured evils? The fear of death is an eternal companion for Nigerians in these evil times in the unlivable nation.
As Buhari struggles to figure out the way forward out of thicket of unfulfilled promises and dashed hopes, seems there is a stay of execution in Nigeria’s imminent collapse and inevitable breakup or a delay in Nigeria’s preordained death. The morally bankrupt kleptomaniac legislators with the conspiracy and connivance of Aso Rock, continue to strangle Nigeria and choke its citizens, while the poor masses are left to fend for themselves. Nigeria under Buhari’s second term will be a state of anomie that thrives on endless crises, violence, and killings.
It’s no secret that a nation can choose to either exalt itself to her people thereby becoming an object of national pride, or hide itself by dulling the citizen’s senses and intelligence, thus negating the primary purpose of a nation. So far, the body of evidence proves that Nigeria under Buhari pursues the second path. Buhari’s administration has taken the advantage of our profoundly ignorant, naive, and Akindanidani citizens fueled by their systemic blind allegiance to the same oppressors who impoverished them.
The paralysis of government and complete disregard for rule of law, the crass stupidity of a ruling class, decayed infrastructure, ravaged and stunted economy, decimated citizens hoping against hope have sealed all hopes and possibilities that Nigeria can remain one nation for long. Buhari’s administration is a shining example of a government of feckless inaction, fetid bureaucracy, and unfettered bullshit.
As Buhari prepares for his second term, I’ll encourage our battered citizens to turn their furious indignation into action, their collective misery into unstoppable bond of vengeance for revolution, and direct their anger, blessed anger, to free themselves from slavery and servitude under “one Nigeria” and go their separate ways. This is the only way out. And the time is NOW!

target=_blank>Ganduje Set To Present Staff-Of-Office To Newly Appointed Emirs Despite Court Order
Kano State Governor Ganduje
Kano State Governor Ganduje
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,Kano state governor, is set to present staff-of-office to the four newly appointed emirs of Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi emirates despite the court order restraining him from proceeding with the installation of the new emirs.
The emirs are Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila (Rano), Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya (Gaya), Dr Ibrahim Abubakar ll (Karaye) and Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero (Bichi).
Acording to daily trust Malam Muhammad Garba, the state’s Commissioner of Information, said, “The governor and his entourage are set to proceed to two out of the four new emirates to present the staff-of-office to the new emirs today.
“And tomorrow Monday, he will lead the entourage to the two remaining emirates to present the staff-of-office to their respective emirs.”
The governor had on Saturday at a ceremony organised by the newly appointed emirs of Gaya, Rano, Bichi and Karaye in appreciation of their appointment said the Kano State Emirs (Appointment and Deposition) (Amendment) Law 2019 had already been gazetted; hence it will not be reversed.
Speaking at the event on the purported reason for the balkanization of the emirate, the governor said: “We created the emirates in order to reduce the burden on the Kano emirate. The challenges are too weighty on Kano emirate, that is why the emirate is running away from centralization of the system. The creation of the additional emirates will allow us to re-examine history. This is not something new in Kano, it has happened before.
“We created emirates based on the aspirations and yearnings of our people. I am sure this development will lead to rapid development in the affected areas,”
The governor urged all district heads and chief Imams under the territories of the new emirs to pay homage to them Sunday.

68-Year-Old US Citizen Collapses At Lagos Airport Due To Excessive Scrutiny By Customs
What would have been another death at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos was on Sunday afternoon averted following the sudden collapse of a 68-year-old woman at the desk of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) attached to the airport. The timely intervention of medical personnel from the Ports Health Services (PHS) at the Lagos Airport, averted the loss of life of the passenger who had just arrived from Cote’d’Ivoire.SaharaReporters found out that passenger had a United States of America (USA) international passport at the time of the incident.SaharaReporters further gathered that the victim (names withheld) was queried and screened extensively for about 20 minutes by NSC officials at the arrival D Wing of the airport, ostensibly, because of the route she entered the country from. While she was ordered to offload and re-arrange her luggages, she collapsed sending panic through airport staff at the scene of the incident. According to eyewitness accounts, the daughter of the woman who had come to welcome her at the airport told other users of the facility that her mother had returned to Nigeria to finally settle down after several years in the US, but expressed sadness in the way the almost septuagenarian was treated by the NCS officials. She alleged that the official of Nigeria Custom Service actually wanted her mother dead by subjecting the old woman who had travelled a long distance over almost 18 hours in the air, to off-load five heavy bags without allowing anyone, even her daughter to assist her.“I suspected that that custom officer wanted my mother dead for no reason. My mother had pleaded with him to allow me come in and assist her so that she could rest, while the screening was going on, but the custom official rejected her plea.“He insisted that since my mother is the passenger, she must offload and bring out everything in the five bags for him to assess. My mother pleaded with him that apart from not sleeping throughout the duration of the flight, she was hypertensive. But, this custom officer didn’t accept; until my mother fell down, while carrying the second bag from the trolley.“At that time I had no option than to forced myself in, and joined at reviving her, I started calling her as we poured water on her before medical people rushed in and took over.“I am happy that the medical people were responsive and arrived promptly at the scene with the right medical equipment and expertise. They were able to revive her after about three minutes of serious battle.”However, immediately the woman collapsed, the customs officials who had insisted on checking the luggage of the traveler abandoned their so called check and didn’t ransack the other luggage.Nigerian Custom officials are notorious for intimidating international travellers in order collect bribes from them.Attempt to contact Mrs. Shoboiki, the Deputy Comptroller of Customs at Lagos Airport proved abortive as she didn’t respond to the call and text message of our correspondent.
