target=_blank>Our Deal With Boeing ‘Still On, Says Air Peace

Nigeria’s Air Peace has revealed it has no plans to grouns its 10 Boeing 737-MAX 800 airplanes after public outcry on social media for it do so over global safety concerns.
Speaking with newsmen on Monday, Air Peace spokesperson, Mr. Chris Iwarah, said: “The airline will continue to act in the interest of the safety of the flying public.”
He said the airline would continue to act in the interest of the safety of the flying public.
Countries like China, South Korea, Ethiopia and the Cayman Island that recently acquired the B-737-800MAX model had grounded operations of the aircraft model following the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines crash, which killed all 157 persons on board.
The aircraft en route Nairobi from Addis Ababa, crashed six minutes after take-off around Bishoftu, 40 miles south-east of the Ethiopian capital.
The crash was the second involving the B737 MAX 800 aircraft in four months, following an October 2018 crash involving a Lion Air plane that went crashing into the sea off Jakarta, in Indonesia, killing all 189 people on board.
Iwarah said that the multi-million-dollar deal signed between Air Peace and the American aircraft manufacturer, The Boeing Company, on September 13, 2018, for the delivery of 10 brand new B737 MAX 800 aircraft was “still on”.
On public concerns about it’s decision, he said: “We are still in the domain of investigation but we want to assure the public that we are following the development very closely any step we take now will be premature until investigations are concluded. So, we are following the investigations very closely to ensure that at the end of the day only the right thing is done.
“We are currently working with Boeing, we are also asking questions and following all developments because we are a safety conscious airline.”

target=_blank>Just Like In 2015, Okowa Mauls Great Ogboru To Win Delta Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ifeanyi Okowa, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and incumbent Governor of Delta State, as winner of the March, 9, 2019 governorship election.
Okowa polled a total of 925,274 votes to defeat Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 215,938 votes.
Announcing the final results on Monday at the INEC headquarters in Asaba, Professor Seth Jaja, the state Returning Officer said 2,831,205 people registered to vote in the state.
Accredited voters were 1,188,784, while a total of 1,178,335 votes were cast during the election. There were 1,154,188 valid votes, while 24,147 votes were rejected.
Of the 25 Local Government Areas (LGA), PDP won 23, while APC won two council areas.
It is the second time in two election cycles that Okowa would defeat Ogboru to win the Delta governorship election, although back then in 2015 Ogboru ran under the umbrella of Labour Party (LP), polling 130,028 votes against Okowa’s 724,680 votes.
Meanwhile, the Delta State chapter of the APC has rejected the results of the governorship elections as declared by INEC, calling for the immediate cancelation of the election.
APC also accused PDP of ballot snatching, over voting, buying of votes and impunity.
A statement signed by the Jones Erue, state party’s chairman, and obtained by our correspondent, alleged that the election was marred by violence as three persons were murdered in cold blood, noting that it was the worst election ever conducted in Delta where PDP thugs armed with weapons, snatched and burnt ballot papers and result sheets in APC strong-holds.
Erue alleged further that from Delta North to South and Central, PDP thugs “exhibited a rapacious thirst for blood and an eerie appetite for violence as they left many innocent voters in pools of blood. APC further accused security agents of aiding PDP thugs to cart away ballot boxes at the units, wards and collation centres.
The statement read: “The object of their gory adventure was to tilt the election results in favour of the PDP. This unpatriotic and satanic objective was indeed achieved but not without exposing their unabashed criminality to grab power so they can subject Deltans to another four years of exploitation and crude pillage of our collective patrimony.
“Indeed, the disparity between the INEC card readers and records of accreditation and the votes being declared at the collation centres across the state exposed their crass breach of the electoral process and villainous infringement of the law, since the INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakubu, had stated that where there are more voters than the number recorded by the card readers, the results in that area shall be annulled.
“Delta APC condemns and rejects in totality the result of the governorship election held in Delta State on Saturday, March 9, 2019, and call on the INEC Chairman to instantly annul the result and to re-conduct same in the nearest date possible in line with extant laws and with all necessary logistics put in place to ensure a free and fair election.
“INEC has already demonstrated its preparedness to apply drastic measures where there is a clear breach of the electoral process through its suspension of the Rivers State election and we urge the electoral umpire to apply same rule in the case of Delta to further underscore its consistency, commitment and determination to conduct a free and fair elections in all states in Nigeria.”

target=_blank>Nigerian Passenger Dies Aboard Delta Airlines Flight From The US To Lagos

A Nigerian, identified as Mr. Nwoke Felix Nwamarizu, has died aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta in the United States on his way to Lagos.
The deceased, 53, and with the passport number A06321653, was said to have developed complications while onboard.
A source close to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) confided in our correspondent that the airport clinic was alerted of the incident about an hour before the arrival of the flight.
The flight it was gathered landed on the runway of the airport at exactly 15:34hrs.
When the aircraft landed, it was gathered that the officials of the airport clinic proceeded on board the aircraft to ascertain the condition of the passenger.
The source explained that the medical team of the airport met with another doctor, a passenger aboard the aircraft simply identified as Lawal, who confirmed the sick passenger was dead before arriving the country.
The onboard doctor was alleged to have said: “The passenger was in a confused state, and could only say his first name (Felix) before he collapsed and was confirmed dead at 08:17hrs in Flight.”
The source stated further that at the airport, the head of the airport clinic also ascertained and confirmed the passenger dead in the presence of the station manager of the airline, Mr. Omeiza, senior aviation security officers and other senior staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
It was gathered that a FAAN ambulance was brought to evacuate the corpse at exactly 16:59hrs, but as of the time of filing this report, the corpse was still at the base station awaiting the necessary documentation and arrival of family members before evacuation to the morgue.

target=_blank>Adamawa APC Rejects The Result Of Inconclusive Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has rejected the result of the governorship election.
The party also called for cancellation of more polling units.
Professor Andrew Haruna, Adamawa Returning Officer, had declared the keenly contested governorship election inconclusive on Monday morning.
Haruna premised his decision to declare the conclusion inconclusive on the “margin of lead” guideline. Ahmed Umar Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the election with a margin of 32,476 votes, having polled 367,471 votes against incumbent Governor Jibrilla Bindow of the APC’s 334,995 votes.
At a press briefing in Yola on Monday evening, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, the APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), called for a probe of some election officials, saying “we strongly feel this election was marred with irregularities”.
He said: “We want to bring it to the notice of the public that we reject these results as they have been received. We have itemized the local governments that card readers were not used, there were over voting and intimidation of our agents.
“Sadly, our petitions were rejected at the unit, ward and local government collation levels; in fact, our petitions to some extent were rejected at the state collation centre. It’s evident that the whole process has been compromised. We saw the sign from the presidential election”.
Mustapha accused security agents of colluding with officials of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to compromise the process.
“We have four wards in Song, where results were not collated and presented at the ward centre. Some soldiers whisked away the collation officer and later they exchanged vehicles with the police who escorted him to the state collation centre. As a party we are asking for cancellation of more polling units, especially in Demsa, Hong, Guyuk, Numan, Lamurde and Madagali Local Government Areas.”

target=_blank>AAC Rivers Candidate Biokpomabo ‘Demands’ That INEC Declare Him Gov-Elect

Awara Biokpomabo, governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers State, has rejected the suspension of the elections in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced the suspension of the elections in Rivers State on Sunday over irregularities.
A fact-finding committee has also been set up and is now in the state to investigate the easons given for the suspension.
However, Biokpomabo, who listed the results from seven of 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in which he said he was leading, urged the electoral commission to declare him winner of the election.
According to the AAC governorship candidate, his party has polled a total of 289,773 votes against 76,633 votes allocated to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
THE FULL STATEMENT
Gentlemen of the Press,
My name is Engr. Awara Biokpomabo, the governorship candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), the candidate leading in the governorship election.  You are all welcome to this press conference on the state of the governorship and house of assembly elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 09-03-2019.
My Party, the African Action Congress (AAC), a duly registered political party fielded candidates for the governorship, house of representatives, senate, and house of assembly positions for the general election held on the 9th day of March, 2019.
The aforesaid elections held as scheduled and proceeded up to collation stage in some Local Government Areas, and in some other Local Government Areas, results had already been collated and declared, before the Independent National Electoral Commission suspended the remaining stages of the election, which I was in clear lead and was coasting to victory. Some of the unit results announced at the polling units in the Local Government where collations were not concluded clearly before the suspension of the processes show that I won over 15 Local Government Areas.
INEC pleaded insecurity, violence, seizure of electoral materials by hoodlums, etc., as the reasons for suspending the remaining stages of the election. I reject the reason given by INEC. This because in the Local Government Areas that were affected, voting had concluded, results declared at the polling units and collation had begun before the abrupt suspension of the process. The Commission does not have the power under our Electoral Act to suspend elections that has already been concluded.
My agents at the field reported to me that the results had already been declared in the under listed Local Government Areas:
Port HarcourtAAC: 11,866PDP: 42,190Ahoada WestAAC: 44,857PDP: 5,866ElemeAAC: 27,712PDP: 4,436Asari-ToruAAC: 18,834PDP: 2,239Akuku ToruAAC: 57,815PDP: 5,696IkwerreAAC: 96,663PDP: 7,554OyigboAAC: 32,026PDP: 8,652 TOTALAAC: 289,773PDP: 76,633
The Local Government Areas collations where ongoing were: Opobo/Nkoro, Abua/Odual, Okirika, Ogu/Bolo, Khana, Degema, Tai, Obio/Akpor, Gokana, Bonny, Ahoada East, Omuma, Andoni, Etche, Emohua, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni.
The suspension of the elections by INEC was done to give respite to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was trailing behind, frustrate my victory. My party went into these elections against an umpire dangerously skewed in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Resident Electoral Commissioner, all the electoral officers, assistant electoral officers, heads of department in the Rivers offices of the Commission were all working for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party. No wonder when they saw that I was leading and would eventually win the election, they raised a false alarm to the headquarters of the commission and misinformed them that there was widespread violence and seizure of electoral materials.
We have on good authority the following facts:
i.? Every Local Government Council Chairman in Rivers State pays the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) to the Electoral Officer assigned to his Local Government and other sums of money to other electoral personnel; ii.? The Resident Electoral Commissioner was bought a house for in Maitama Area of Abuja by the Governor of Rivers State, who incidentally is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and iii. ?The Administrative Secretary of the Rivers State office of the Commission, Elder Etim John, was paid the sum of Three Hundred MillionNaira (N300,000,000) by Governor Wike as inducement to secure 100 per cent posting of the ad hoc staff list in favour of the PDP.
To justify the financial inducement given to him by the Governor, the said Administrative Secretary Elder Etim John did not only ensure that the posting of the ad hoc staff overtly favoured the PDP, but he also got carried away to the extent that he even included the names of well known relatives of some PDP candidates and chieftains in the list.
On his part, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Oboe Efaga, on the eve of the election replaced most of the ad hoc workers, which were already published on the Commission’s notice boards with the names of card carrying members of the PDP. For instance, in the following Local Government Areas the under listed persons were suddenly deployed as Local Government Collation Officers:
i.?Emohua: Dr. Peter Medee, a card carrying member of the PDP
ii.?Khana: Mr. Gbenekanu Ledornu, who is both a card carrying member of the PDP and the younger brother of Dr. Barr Mpigi (a senatorial candidate of the PDP) was appointed Returning Officer for Khana LGA. The said Mr. Gbenekanu Ledornu has just completed course work on his Ph.D. programme. He is not yet a Lecturer not to talk of been a Senior Lecturer, yet Elder Etim John conniving with Mr. Oboe Efaga appointed him Returning Officer for Khana LGA.
iii.? Tai: Prof. Patrick Mmon, a card carrying member of PDP
The said state Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr. Oboe Efaga, has not been able to conclude any election in Rivers State since he took over the office. You will all recall that the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Oboe Efaga, after suspending the PHALGA Constituency 111 State House of Assembly rerun election recklessly abandoned that election process since August 2018 until date. The AAC will not again allow the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Oboe Efaga, and INEC to subvert free and fair elections solely because it was obvious to them that their preferred candidate was losing the election.
I must not fail to mention the role played by the Governor of Rivers State and the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, during the collation process at the Obio Akpor Local Government Council Secretariat. The Governor stormed the collation centre with his army of thugs numbering over 200, fully armed with AK-47 assault rifles and overpowered the security officials that were posted to the collation centre to provide security and carted away ALL the electoral materials, including both original copies of unit result sheets and ward collation sheets that were being used for the collation of results by the electoral officials and took them to the Rivers State Government House, where they were filled out with over-inflated figures. The Army Captain and other military officers that were shot in the process are still in critical condition at the Military Hospital, Port Harcourt, where they are receiving medical treatments.
It should be noted that during the National Assembly rerun election in Rivers State in 2016, Governor Wike stormed the Rivers East Senatorial District Collation Centre at the Port Harcourt City Local Government Council secretariat Port Harcourt in the same manner he stormed the Obio Akpor Local Government Collation Centre yesterday, the 9th day of March, 2019, and forced the Senatorial Collation Officer to declare Senator George Thompson Sekibo as the winner at gunpoint.
At the Emohua Local Government Area, the Electoral officer absconded with ALL the sensitive election materials and ran to the INEC head office in Port Harcourt pleading insecurity while the atmosphere was calm at the INEC office in Emohua.
Obio/Akpor and Emohua Local Government Areas perhaps were the only two Local Government Areas that the collation process were disrupted. The said disruptions were caused by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party himself. Suspending the said election on the ground of violence will amount to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party benefiting from his own wrong.
In the light of the forgoing facts, I make the following demands:
i.? That the results already declared at the aforesaid Local Government collation centres should be accepted;
ii.? That INEC should declare me, Engr. Awara Biokpomabo of the African Action Congress (AAC), winner of the 09-03-2019 governorship election in the state;
iii. ?The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Oboe Efaga, should be immediately redeployed for gross incompetence. The said state Resident Electoral Commissioner has not been able to conclude any election in Rivers State since he took over the office. The PHALGA Constituency 111 State Assembly election is a case in point.
Thank very much.

target=_blank>HINDSIGHT: Nigerian Lady Maudlyn Ekwueme Predicted Ethiopian Airlines Plane Crash

A post by Maudlyn Adaeze Ekwueme is currently one of the hot topics on social media as a result of the tragic accident on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302, which occurred on Sunday morning.
On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at exactly 2:23pm, Ekwueme had posted on Facebook: “I saw youth corpers crying; I saw Ethiopian Airlines, did it crash or almost crash? I saw lots of dead boys; I saw Kaduna.”
Four days after, an Ethiopian Airlines flight took off from Addis Ababa for Nairobi but crashed six minutes into the journey killing all 149 passengers and eight crew members.
Recovery efforts have been going on at the site of the incident to find clues to what caused the crash. The aircraft’s black box was recovered on Monday.
Ekwueme’s post has generated more than 2,000 comments, but she has not made any further reference to the ‘prophecy’ or the crash.

However, she had made a reference to a report by SaharaReporters on a boat accident involving a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The NYSC member had drowned after a boat he was travelling in capsized on his way back from election duty in Ondo State.
According to her Facebook profile, Maudlyn is a graduate of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. She is self-employed and lives in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Much of her posts revolve around messages from Christian-themed messages.
Her last post at the time of this report was at 11:24pm.
While she has maintained silence since the crash, her friends have not, continuing to tag her in screenshots of the post, with one, Jewel Ifunanya, even warning anyone to refrain from saying the post was edited, affirming that he read the post when it was orginally posted on March 6.
Ifunanya wrote:
At this point of my life, I stopped believing in prophecies, I see this and that blablablabla, I feel they are all lies
But I have a friend on this Facebook, her name is Maudlyn Adaeze Ekwueme babe has a gift of vision. She is no pastor but I know she has a personal relationship with God…
Before the elections, I had an encounter with her, she has a soft spot for PDP and wanted Atiku to win, but her vision was different cos according to her,she saw Buhari addressing the people and APC we’re happy. She posted it on her Facebook wall, She was rebuking her vision, praying for Buhari to lose, I got angry and I went into argument with her. Finally her vision came to pass.
5 days ago I saw her post about her vision about the Ethiopian airline, youth corpers and kaduna. I said to myself this girl has started again, she wants to be forming TB Joshua now because few of her vision came to pass. I read few comments where people asked her to take her vision seriously, as they usually came to pass. I was like abeg swerve, see how worldly she looks and she dey form prophetess… I remember saying that.
I didn’t take her serious.
Yesterday I felt like beating up myself, Jewel why didn’t you pray? Why didn’t join faiths with maudlyn to pray, Just maybe PIUS and others will still be alive, Just maybe that crash would have been averted.
I died the more, when I learnt corpers died in a boat mishap that happened yesterday…
People pls let’s all say a prayer for Kaduna, prayer does not harm, it doesn’t kill… Let’s pray for Kaduna pls…
Finally don’t come here to say that post was edited, that will be very annoying. I READ THAT POST 5 DAYS AGO, I saw it and I read it…
I feel so shattered

E2%80%98declared-under-duress%E2%80%99-%E2%80%94-inec-strikes-out-okorochas-name-official-senators-elect target=_blank>JUST IN: ‘Declared Under Duress’ — INEC Strikes Out Okorocha’s Name From Official Senators-Elect List

The name of Rochas Okorocha, the outgoing Governor of Imo State, is missing from the list of senators-elect published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.
Okorocha contested to represent Imo West Senatorial District in the February 23 election.
After the collation of results, Innocent Ibeabuchi, INEC Returning Officer for Imo West Senatorial District, declared Okorocha winner of the election.
However, Ibeabuchi has since said he was “forced” to declare the results at the Imo West election collation centre in Orlu.

Narrating his reason for the declaration, Ibeabuchi had said he was “held up at the centre by supporters of Mr Okorocha”, who insisted he must complete the announcement.
The returning officer’s account might have necessitated the omission of Okorocha’s name from INEC’s list, as the commission simply explained the omission on its website as “declaration under duress”.
The names of five other candidates in Abuja South, Kogi East, Ondo South, Plateau South, Rivers East and West, as well as Imo North, as supplementary elections will be conducted in those areas, while the candidate of Bauchi South will be determined by the court.

EXCLUSIVE: Adelabu Blames Tegbe For Defeat, Engages In Fisticuffs With Ajimobi’s PA

Bayo Adelabu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has been abusing leaders of the party, blaming them for his loss in the election.
Adelabu has been claiming that the leaders of the party collected money from him yet failed to deliver their various political constituencies.
Dayo Iyaniwura, one of Adelabu’s main allies who is also a Personal Assistant to outgoing Governor Abiola Ajimobi, was caught in one of his many fits of rage at Ajimobi’s Oluyole residence on Sunday.
Two sources who witnessed the episode confirmed to SaharaReporters that Adelabu had attacked the Governor’s PA during an argument, which resulted into an outbreak of fisticuffs between the two men.
One of the sources told SaharaReporters that Adelabu rained unprintable and abusive words on Tegbe, who later showed up at Ajimobi’s residence as well. He specifically accused Tegbe of not supporting him, claiming Tegbe’s team worked against him during the campaign and that was why he lost.
SaharaReporters understands that Adelabu did not reconcile with the candidates who were forced to step down for him at last year’s APC governorship primary, insisting that he had all it takes to win the election.
Adelabu lost Saturday’s election to Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winning only five of the 33 local governments in the state while Makinde won all the rest.
The PDP candidate won in Ibadan North West, Ibarapa East, Atiba, Kajola, Ido, Lagelu, Iwajowa, Afijio, Orelope, Ibadan North East, Ibadan South East, Ibarapa North, Atisbo, Ibarapa Central, Ogbomoso South, Ibadan North, Egbeda, Itesiwaju, Saki West, Saki East, Oyo West, Oyo East, Oluyole, Olorunsogo, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Iseyin and Ibadan South West LGAs.
Meanwhile, Adelabu won in Orire, Ogooluwa, Surulere, Ogbomoso North, and Irepo LGAs of the state.
At the end of the race, Makinde scored a total of 515,621 votes while Adelabu polled 357,982.
Olufemi Lanlehin, candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), came third in the governorship poll with 12,375 votes, although he had stepped down a few days before the election in order to support Makinde.
